Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to figure out which pendant necklace I like the most. I have a Lucida (prong setting) solitaire e-ring and I'm getting matching (prong set) earrings soon... I will wear RB studs in the second piercings. Which pendant do you think would look best?

1) Lucida prong setting with round diamond and DBTY style chain

2) Lucida bezel setting with plain chain

3) Lucida prong setting with plain chain (the picture is of an Asscher not a Lucida)

The Lucida is shaped like a square radiant.

Thanks for your opinions! :twirl:

1 or 2.

I agree - 1 or 2 as well. If its something you plan on wearing everyday then 2 is more classic. It's absolutely timeless. Beautiful. I'm not sure 1 is casual.

Yep, I'd also go with 1 or 2 and preferably style 2. I had a pendant like #3 and the diamond traveled around and always ended up in the hallow of my neck and I was surprised that after owning it for a couple of years, that someone finally complimented me on it because before then, I'd check it in the mirror and it'd be hanging at an odd angle and nobody every made any mention of it even though it was a very well cut stone.

I'm not sure what size diamond you're planning to get, but a bezel creates a fabulous frame for most diamonds so I found that my small .38 in a thin tiffany bezel works best for me. It travels around and flips as much as the other one I had (#3) but still, when it's cooperating, it looks SO MUCH more refined even though the diamond isn't as well cut as the one in the #3 setting.

misskittycat -- I do plan on wearing it everyday.

Number 1 is in the running for a few reasons 1) I have more than one piercing and will be wearing small round studs in my second holes 2) I will wear a couple RB channel set bands stacked as my right hand ring 3) I like the DBTY necklaces and may want the DBTY style bracelet later on 4) I wasn't sure if the prong setting solitaire style would be too matchy matchy with my e-ring and earrings

MC -- good to know about the traveling pendant, it will definitely bug me if it flips or moves around too much.. I'd be using my current e-ring stone for the pendant which is .75ct

Here are some pics of my other everyday items... I'm trying to create my "everyday wear" set. I will be adding a couple more bands to the right hand ring stack. I'm leaning toward a slim three-row pave band and a shared-setting band so they will have round stones just like the two channels. The earrings will look just like my e-ring with the prong settings.

I vote for 2. 1 is really lovely but might be too much for everyday wear...

Thank you all so much for your input. I originally thought I would just get the matching prong setting. I didn't even think to consider anything else until I saw the bezel setting in person. DH likes Option 3 as it matches exactly, but I'm now leaning toward the bezel setting. I think it will give that complementary look while still being casual enough for everyday wear.

My first choice was #1 because I can't resist a good sparkly trinket! - but it is not a "casual" style setting - at least not what I'd consider casual/every day wear, in my world.

Having seen your set in the pics above, I'd now go with #2 - the bezel. It seems like it has the modern clean look that works with your existing pieces but its also flexible to go with any situation.

2 - hands down - it's a beautiful style for everyday wear.

Definitely #2! I definitely prefer bezels for solitaire pendants.

#2 would be my pick

Have you tried on any bezel stones with that shape in person? You may want to because bezeling a .75 is going to make the stone look quite a bit larger and give it a lot of presence. If you've only held the stone up to your neck to get an idea of the size, then it'll be hard to determine the final look.

Hi Guys,

OK, I'm back after researching a bit more. So it's been a few months and I'm pretty sure I like the bezel setting. Now I need to decide on the size (.50 vs .72). I either buy a .50ct bezel set pendant (second hand) or I use my .72ct e-ring stone. I want my e-ring to be the biggest, then pendant, and then the earrings. I would like the pendant to be at least .50ct. My e-ring is .91ct F and my earrings will probably be .92ctw and in the G-I range. My .72ct stone is an E and I'm wondering if that is too high of a color for a pendant, considering my earrings will be G-I and my e-ring is an F. I could sell my .72ct and buy a .50ct pendant. What would you do? My e-ring and earrings are prong setting and the pendant will be bezel so that will add a little to it's size.

E-ring .91 F VVS2 (prong)

Pendant .72 E or ??? (bezel)

Earrings .92 ctw G-I (prong)
