okay after bugging everyone so much with questions.. i am deciding on a diamond now!!! :) I have found some on bluenile (they seemed to have the biggest selection of what i was looking for) and ran them all through the HCA cut advisor.

my dilemma is the ones that are GIA certified happen to be "Very Good" cut but rank VERY well on HCA cut advisor, like an AGS ideal would I think(?). I am looking for a great cut with really good "life" or whatnot. also it should be eye clean, i have seen some SI2s which are in person so i think that is possible. since they are SIs I will have bluenile take a look at them for me to let me know if they are eyeclean, i called and they said they could do this. i do realize that bluenile will not provide any info such as sarin reports etc but eh.

okay... please help me decide if these are any good if you have the time!!! :)

1. .80 ct, F color, SI2, GIA cert w cut ranking "Very good"
Symmetry/Polish: EX/VG
no flour
5.93 5.98 3.66 mm
depth 61.5%
table 56%
36 degrees crown
40.2 degrees pavilion
medium girdle
no culet
$2,668.00

on HCA it gets EX/EX/EX/VG. ::: 0.8 score (the "X" is slightly below AGS ideal)
is a spread of VG good enough usually??

2. .78 ct, F color, SI2, GIA cert "Very good" cut
sym/polish: VG/VG
no flour
6.04 6.11 3.54 mm
depth 58.3%
table 62%
girdle: thin to medium, faceted
33.5 deg crown
40.8 deg pavilion
no culet
$2,492

on HCA it gets VG/VG/VG/EX ::: 2 score

3. .76 ct, E color, SI1, GIA cert "Very good" cut
Sym/Polish VG/VG
faint flour
5.94 5.97 3.58 mm
depth 60.1%
table 56%
girdle very thin to thin
34 deg crown
40.6 deg pavilion
no culet
$2,642

on HCA it gets EX/EX/EX/EX ::: 0.5. the "x" is within GIA ex and right below AGS ideals. I might be worried on the thinness of the girlde on this one though is that correct?

4. .78 ct F color SI2 AGSL certed Ideal cut (but in July 2004)

Table 57%
flour negligible
culet none
girdle thin to medium
5.94 5.96 3.64
crown 35 deg
pavilion 40.8 deg

HCA: EX/EX/EX/VG::: 1.6
on this one i am thinking i might be worried since the cert is 2 years old; why hasn''t anyone bought it yet... possible it is not eye clean.

please advise me!!! thank you :)

hm...i was leaning towards 3 cause of its awesome score on HCA but i think because of the thinness of the girdle i should pass on it.... so i guess now 1, 2, and 4 are in the running...

I know you''re tired of hearing from me

, but those James Allen stones were all better than these. #4 is okay, but I wouldn''t go SI2 unless there were no other choices. You can easily go to G in color and up to SI1 or even VS in clarity with ideal cut in your price range. You might want to look at the "Color" thread I just posted and learn a little more about color options before you decide.

haha thanks for your input diamondseeker!!!
i have just been looking at bluenile so far because it is quick to see the GIA reports and they seem to be quite a big selection. i have seen some colors but not all in person and i am really able to tell a big diff between a G and an I so i figured a G might look yellower to me than an F since i havent compared a F and G in person before and figured just to go with the F ...

i will checkout your color thread now :)

Believe me, I am obsessively debating color myself! So I understand how you feel!
