Okay I am stuck... I need to make a decision within the next couple of days and I can''t decide!

I have 2k budget and I know I want an eternity band as my wedding band. I love the stacked look, (well I think I do, I''ve never actually seen it!). I think its just so stylish and I can wear them in a few different ways. However on the other hand I want something blingy!

My solitaire is 1.26 princess cut, pics below. The stone is about 6x6mm wide. It is also set very low. Besides my budget, my other concern is that too much will overshadow my ring.

Okay so here''s what I am looking at,

If I get one band this is what I would like: Its 3.1 mm wide, 1.24 ct princess shared prong eternity. http://www.thefacetscollection.com/item.cfm?item_id=2502
I know this sounds crazy but if I only get one I feel like it should be as big as possible.

I have contacted Facets and they said they can make me a .5 ct for just under 1k. I don''t have a picture of this, and I think that is what is making this decision so hard! The closest thing I have to a pic is this round shared prong eternity, but mine will be princess so it will be different.

This band is 1.7mm wide but I think princess cuts would be thinner. I also inquired about the .5 channel set princess eternity and asked how wide the actual diamonds are in that band and I was told 1.4mm so I would assume shared prong would be about 1.5-1.6mm.

Okay so now I am thinking that two bands will each be too thin. I think diamonds that small will not be as sparkly or noticeable enough. I want people to be like "wow!" when they see my band, and I also worry about "shrinkage."

Okay I''ve rambled enough, so what do you think I should do.

I am also thinking about asking facets to send me both, so I can compare. But I would feel bad if it comes to that.

First, your e-ring is gorgeous

I love the wedding band you've chosen, but I would be concerned that the shared prong will eat away at your e-ring prongs, especially sincfe you said it sits low. If I were you, I would go channel set princess. Much less damage (if any), comfier to wear, and it looks great stacked!

ETA: This would be a great option! http://www.thefacetscollection.com/item.cfm?item_id=1926

It wouldn't overpower your e-ring, but it's substantial enough to wear alone.

Oh and here''s the pics I made to see how each would look. I don''t have real photoshop software so I had to use what I had, also had to lighten my ring to make it match. Looking at this, I like the 2 bands a bit more but I feel like it is so zoomed in that actual size won''t look as good.

I like the one band, but two looks great too! Can a wedding band sit flush with your e-ring? What if you got the higher carat ring now, and then got the second for an anniversary?

Ditto!

I went to jewelry stores to try on channel set vs. shared prong and it seemed channel set rings weren''t as sparkley. Plus thin bands seem to have more metal than diamond. However, if I just got one band I could definity do channel since diamonds would be bigger and metal sides would be thinner.

Oh, and I though it was the diamond in a shared prong bands that scratch the ering? I thought as long as my diamonds were princess cut they wouldn''t stick out. Do platinum prongs scratch platinum bands?

Yes. Big time.

Here''s the side view of my ring. You don''t think it could take some wear?

I actually like the geometric/clean lines look of the channel set with my ering, but I was a bit put off by the sparkle difference between the two.

Most rings can take some wear, the question is, why would you want it too?

I have a .55ct half eternity princess channel from Blue Nile as my wedding band and love it! The sides have very thin platinum edges and the diamonds have an amazng sparkle to them. I don''t recall reading where you tried on wedding bands, but is it possible that the cut on them wasn''t that great?

I think one reason why people prefer shared prong is the "less metal" look that so many poorly done channel rings have. And with rounds, there is the gap issue when not done correctly.

I would get the 1 big eternity ring. It is practically the same width as your current e-ring and it would be a fantastic set!!! You could always get some super thin bands later on as anniversary bands, but you will never regret having the big stones as an eternity band. It is also a stunning look if you just want to wear as a wedding band alone.

I think the channel set is safer than the shared prong, too. I think princess cut in a channel set is wonderful because there are no gaps between the stones like there are with rounds. The sparkle would be dertermined by the stones cut quality, and not whether it was channel or sahred prong because the light comes in through the top of the stone. So you won''t lose any sparkle with a channel set band. The half channel is not a bad idea because it could be resized.

Ditto! Also, DS makes a good point about channel set being a wonderful option because there are no gaps between the stones.

I am also in favor of the channel set princess band (I am biased though). I almost did a channel set princess band with a solitare, I think they look stunning together. I have a channel set princess band, and it is so sparkly, so it might be the difference in cut (good vs. poor). Also... rounds will sparkle more than princesses typically.

I also vote for one princess channel set band.
Here is mine--2mm half channel set. Very sparkly. Princesses look great in a channel set(as the others have said)because of the lack of gaps. A row of sparkle.
My ering is a round, but the effect is the same--I say go for the channel set!

Mia,

I agree ... The channel set that Feb2003bride suggested would look gorgeous with your beautiful ering!

Coati - I love your set ...

I''m voting for the one, larger channel set princess cut since it''s safer, I like the look of a solid band of diamonds, and I think the thin metal edges on the band would look very nice with the metal of your e-ring... very clean, precise, sparkly look.

Okay you all have me convinced!

I definitely want to get just one eternity band. Maybe I can do a thin stacking band as a RHR (at least then I will be able to get one in white gold and it will be cheaper).

I am still not completely sold on the channel set band because it is slightly higher and I don''t know if it will sit flush enough with my Ering. So I am going to call Facets and ask if I could to order both and decide then.

That is what I have for my wedding band and I *love* how fluid it looks. It is also VERY comfortable.
