Hi all,
I am planning a visit to the states to pick-up a diamond and I will be proposing there in about 1 month. I have been lurking on here for the past 6 months and have narrowed down my search. Would really appreciate your expert advice on my decision.
Here is my criteria:
Cut is most important (want it to sparkle like crazy)
H in Color
Eye Clean (VS2 or better)
and also:
HCA cut below 2
Great idealscope images*
*Now, what I have found the most difficult is that many dealers don't offer idealscope images. And those that do charge a more (ie. I would have to settle for a smaller diamond). Of course, the best deal I've found has a great HCA score but no idealscope images.
Prospect 1: Larger diamond, great HCA (0.9), no idealscope, great value (image 1), VS1.
Prospect 2: Smaller diamond, great HCA (0.
, medium value (image 2), VS1.
Prospect 3: Medium size diamond, great HCA, worst value (image 3), VS2.
All these diamonds have excellent symmetry and no florescent and no cutlet.
Also, I am looking to put this in a rose gold 14k setting like the one attached (image 4).
My questions for you all are:
1) I would like to buy prospect 1, but there are no idealscope images. Would this be a game breaker for you guys?
2) Are there any other factors that I should consider that I may have forgotten?
3) Between prospect 2 and 3,which would you recommend?
4) What is a reasonable amount to pay for the setting in image 4? I have found that this varies greatly among vendors. Ideally I'd like to spend my money on the diamond and not the setting.
Thanks for everyone's help. I have spent a lot of time researching and using this forum to see what others have looked for. Big thanks to the Pricescope crew for all this useful info. I will be sure to post pictures once I am done. Wish me luck!
