Hello,

I have spent countless hours (more than I care to admit) learning from this forum, and now its time for my first post as I need some directed input from the experts here.

I have narrowed the center stone of the e-ring I am looking at down to 3 options (will be mounted in a Platinum solitaire setting with a Tiffany Novo style 4 prong head).

They all score below 2 on the HCA, but are different in terms of the “trade offs”.

Option 1.
A Cut Above 1.278 G VS2 (AGS) full list price $13,370
Depth % 61.4
Table % 56.9
Crown Angle 34.9
Pavilion Angle 40.8 Crown
Measurements 6.98x6.99x4.28
Culet Pointed
Fluorescence Negligible
Girdle Thin to Medium Faceted

Option 2.
A Cut Above 1.347 H VS2 (AGS) full list price $12,780
Depth % 61.5
Table % 57.3
Crown Angle 34.9
Pavilion Angle 40.9
Measurements 7.09x7.12x4.37
Culet Pointed
Fluorescence Negligible
Girdle Thin to Medium Faceted

Option 3.
Ex/Ex/Ex 1.44 G VS2 (GIA) full list price $12,697
Depth % 62.2
Table % 57.0
Crown Angle 35.5
Pavilion Angle 40.6
Measurements 7.18x7.21x4.48
Culet Pointed
Fluorescence None
Girdle Medium to Slightly Thick Faceted
*this one has an indented natural and is part of WF’s virtual selection, so they don’t have ideal scope images ect.

I will need to make a decision in the next day or so – I think all 3 are great stones, but again would defer to the board for any comments. ie is the 1.44 cheap for a reason….is the larger H ACA a better value than the G ect.

Thanks in advance for the help.

The 1.44 carat stone is not under the A Cut above series that is why it is cheaper than the other two.

All three look like great stones. I would pick the largest diameter for the $$.

Have you looked at the Brian Gavin ideal blues...they are lovely...this one was just graded on July 27, 2012:
a little over budget:

under budget:

Yes i also would recommend their blue series too. and actually u mention that u would like to mount it in tiffany novo style ring setting. Brian Gavin also got one called "Novela" which is similar to it. You can have the diamond n setting from the same place if you choose to buy in BGD. :D
