I'm concerned about the strain lines in the first one but I otherwise love everything about it. The second is an HPHT, which I wanted to avoid because I am afraid it will end up glowing in the dark, and has a deeper proportion than I would prefer, but I think it may be a better quality diamond overall.

I don't think so either, but does the presence of strain lines mean that its cheap CVD/not well made?

Not necessarily. CVD will almost always have strain lines… if it doesnt affect light performance then no worries. I have a lovely AVR from DG that has strain lines but looks just fine. Is there post-growth treatment? The HPHT says no post growth treatment so that is a plus.
