I need help choosing between these 2 sapphires for an engagement ring I''m building at TNSC. I ordered both stones to look at yet I still can''t make up my mind. The setting I''m going with is a bit like this one http://www.thenaturalsapphirecompany.com/Sapphires/Blue/B3112/Cushion/stoneid=B3112#&&/wEXAQUNU2V0dGluZ09wdGlvbgUQMCRQYWxsYWRpdW0kMSQ2MA== though I''ve made a couple small modifications.

The 2 sapphires are http://www.thenaturalsapphirecompany.com/Sapphires/Blue/B3109/Cushion/stoneid=B3109 and http://www.thenaturalsapphirecompany.com/Sapphires/Blue/B3112/Cushion/stoneid=B3112 . The second is a bit smaller and not quite completely square in dimensions. The colors aren''t drastically different when seeing them in person.

Is there any insight anyone could give me to choose between these 2? The table size on the larger one is significantly larger as a percentage of the face. Is this a good or bad quality generally? At this point it''s a tossup so if anyone has any advice I''d be grateful. Thanks!

The second one is marginally lighter but you've said that this isn't noticeable in real life? It looks like it might have a bit more life than the first one but the first one has marginally better symmetry - is this important to you? If the first one is slightly darker, have you seen it put in a setting? If it's ok in a setting and doesn't darken further then I wouldn't worry about it being darker.

They're very similar and if I were you, I'd go with what you see with your eyes rather than the photos as they're both very pretty so it comes down to personal choice.

I lean toward the darker saturation in Sapphires, but I agree with LD, it''s your personal choice. ;-)

Sorry, I wasn''t sure how to post the links correctly. How do you it right? When looking at them in person the only difference I can truly see is the size difference. I didn''t know if there may be something that usually makes a stone better than another one ie. table size. These are the only 2 sapphires I''ve ever looked at close up in person so that could be part of it, but like you said, they seem to be very similar. If there''s nothing that would make either of these a better purchase I''ll probably go with the bigger one just to get some more size.

Thanks again.

I would chose the first one (the darker and larger one). I think they are very comparable.

The first one. It''s slightly richer in color and a little bigger.

The first one for all the reasons already stated and for (my guess) probably being a livelier, more scintillating stone. BTW, your link for the setting didn''t work, took me to another stone.

There is a very nuanced difference between the two. The first is slightly darker and the second a little lighter in tone. The first looks to possibly be a little violet undertone whereas the second is a straight blue. Again, everything now comes to personal preference. I wouldn''t sweat the small differences in cut. Choose with your own eyes since you have both in front of you. Look at both under as many different lighting as possible before deciding.
