Hello lovely PS ladies! I have been searching for, trying on, and changing my mind about settings for the past 6 months! I think I might be loosing my mind! My boyfriend is planning on using a family friend''s jewler to have my engagement ring made (one who recreated a to die for version of the tiffany legacy ring), and I keep changing my mind in terms of what I like. I want to get his input as well, so we went and tried on a few rings together, but as soon as I think I have decided, I change my mind again. I think he is getting close to being ready to have it made so I need to make an executive decision rather soon :)

Has anyone else gone through this? I mean, you are supposed to have this "ah hah" moment when you find the perfect one, but I think I have had several of those moments and then changed my mind! Some would say to choose a solataire in the meantime, but I really don''t like the way they look on my hand.

If anyone has any suggestions, please send them my way. If it helps as a general description, we are a very relaxed couple and I would like something that doesn''t look like what everyone else has (I''m from Southern California if that helps anyone get an idea). I like the idea of a round diamond, about 1 carot in size, but then I tried on an oval split shank and like that too. Initally I started off set on a round diamond with a cushion halo...now do you see how confused I am!!! I like the look of a round stone with an eternity band, but then I feel like everyone has that. Uggg, I''m driving myself mad!

Hi Emily,

Have you actually gone and tried on different styles of settings/diamond shapes IRL? That will probably narrow down your choices significantly. Alot of people think they have an idea of what they like, but when they actually try that style on their own hand, their opinions change. If you havent done that, I would suggest doing so. If you have (and I know you mentioned that you dont like this idea) you can get your stone and have it set in a temporary wg solitaire setting until you find exactly what you want setting-wise. I think thats better than feeling pressured to find a setting that you are not 100% in love with, you know? Good luck!!!

There is no way anyone could tell you what to choose - it is your ring and is all about personal preference. A round stone in a simple mounting with an eternity band is a beautiful, classic look IMO. When in doubt, just keep it simple. A beautiful solitaire with a blingy band would get just about anyone''s vote I''m sure. There will always be other things that catch your eye but because we can''t have one of each, we have to make a decision somewhere along the line!

My husband always teases me about looking at everything out there and always coming back to the original thing that caught my eye. I''m sure he''s right but I feel that I ''shopped'' it well by seeing all that was available.

Good luck to you and let us know what you decide on!

Thanks ladies. To answer Dani''s question, I have tried on every style of ring possible at every store possible! It''s funny becasue I would probably be happy with just a band...all I really care about is the commitment (and a honeymoon vacation ;)), but he wants to "do it right" with an engagement ring. I will let you know if and when I make a decision. You are right about a stone with eternity band. You can''t really go wrong with that.

Perfect advice from MissGotRocks.

Something I learned recently was to keep it classic and simple where my e-ring is concerned. You can always have wild and crazy right had rings, but your e-ring is something you will wear every day, in dressy clothes and sweats alike. So make sure it's something that you will be happy staring at every day.

Is there one style, or even two that you keep coming back to?

ETA: If you narrow it down to 2, you can always let your fiance pick between the two of them.

What about an engagement BAND? I''ve heard that in some cultures that is what they do as a standard!

Maybe an eternity ring for engagement, and a fine 1mm-1.5mm band at the wedding?
