Help - Is this a good buy - 0.23ct fancy vivid heart shape yellow diamond

Hello guys,

I came across a tiny yellow diamond from James Allen the other day. This is my first time trying to buy a yellow diamond, want some opinions. I placed the diamond on hold while JE can't ship any loose diamond at this moment due to Covid-19.

I want to make it a ear stud with 3 prong setting. The diamond is asking for $840.

How do you guys think, it this a good buy? Thanks all for your opinions.

I have no idea if the price is more/less than common, the color is NOT common - as far as I can tell & from a screen. 'Vivid' is a range, and this is a good sample of the FVY I find most beautiful.

I think it's a great shape and color. If you love the shape and color, the price is worth it.

I like it! Strong and even colour, and the faceting also works really nicely in terms of not having obvious leakage or excessive obstruction/contrast

@kenny is good with coloured diamonds so might be able to offer comment

Make sure they keep it on Hold while they can't ship it out - you wouldn't want it to come off Hold automatically after 24/48 hours because of the way the system is set up to run in normal times!

Another option - the seller is a PSer. The original vendor, Leibish, is very reputable (they specialise in fancy coloured diamonds).

The 0.66ctw pair is still available - listed at $1380. I personally prefer the "bucket of glitter" type of sparkle that this pair will output over the splintery flash of the JA.
