Hi all,

I've got 2 diamonds I'm choosing between and I'm not sure on the advice I'm getting, I've been told diamond 1 (details of both below) will be the nicer of the two but I'm not convinced. From my very rudimentary research, I think diamonds 2 cut is significantly better and the difference in colour and clarity within this range is unlikely to make much difference. That being said I'm happy to be proved wrong - price is almost identical! Any advice you could give would be appreciated.

Thanks is advance.

Based on the numbers alone, 1st one is very poorly cut, 2nd one is still poorly cut but better than 1st one. You need ASET and idealscope to comfirm 2nd one. You can do way better.

Is this a double post? Where are the other replies?

hi hifihua, thanks for the advice. Can you tell me why you think diamond 2 is poorly cut, from what I've learnt it's pretty good so I don't want to make the same mistake again.

Hi whitewave, yes it is a double post I hadn't realised I'd put both online!

I'd suggest buying the non-fluorescent choice is a better one. There will be an impact on value at some later date if you decide to re-sell or change a highly fluorescent diamond. Bother diamonds will look highly similar, but the issue of strong fluorescence has an impact that you won't fully grasp until you have been a long time owner. #2 has pretty good specs and I don't see much wrong with it by the numbers. Be sure it is eye-clean, of course.
