Ok, I called Christina York, but she sells jewelry too!

I mean this is getting to be crazy. I am going to go through the resouces listed here on independent appraisers, but if you guys know of one you like, I will call them!

Also, do you think that 57K is not enough for an E color shy 4ct- I wonder if the price is low because maybe the cut isn''t that good?
Any thoughts.

Slow down. What is important to you? I personally would take cut over size; just a good cut diamond will not show life like a well cut diamond. You can use this for price comparison https://www.pricescope.com/diamond-prices.aspx What kind of certificate do you have on the stone? Do you have numbers from the cert?

The diamond just came yesterday. I don''t have a cert yet, I am going to see it this weekend, probably tomorrow.
Ok, Skippy, I''ll slow down- thanks.

Sorry, I just want you to find a great diamond. Is it a round? You can use this to plug numbers in the cert numbers to find out if it is a bad stone or good stone. http://www.pricescope.com/cutadviser.asp If it scores a 0-2 then it may be a keeper if it is higher than a 2 you may want to pass or keep looking.

Lots of us bought online and found lovely stones at a good price. You might want to look online too

Sammy,

From your previous posts, you seem to be quite anxious about this diamond purchasing process still. Why don''t you try to slow it down a little until you feel very comfy in the fact that you know exactly what you are looking for and what the corresponding cost for that level of quality should be.

Pricescope is a great resource. Review all the information and combine that theory with the experience of actually looking at diamonds in person ... this should help to increase your comfort level with this process. I understand your trepidation as purchasing a diamond is an expensive and emotional venture. Take your time, enjoy it and try not to worry too much. Educate yourself and build confidence.

Take a look at the diamond you have called in and have fun with it. I''m sure it will be gorgeous. Go armed with all of your PS questions and this should better assist you with your decision making process.

Good luck Sammy and if you have any more questions, please, please ask ...

On a final note, why don''t you try calling some of the online vendors and ask them to quote you a price on an ideal cut approx 4 carat princess stone. This should give you an approximate price range that you should be shooting for....

Thanks guys.

Ok. I will slow down. It''s not an emergency. I am getting married in March, but I guess I could always just wear the band if I don''t find the right diamond.
But, if you are inclined, you can come looking with me that would be fun too!
In the meantime, one of the jewlers said he would send me all the info on the rings I am looking at.

Good stuff, Sammy! If you slow down it will be a much more pleasurable experience!

I would love to come looking with you ... I''m a little too far away but that would be tons of fun ... Maybe another PS''er would be happy to join you??

Sam,

Enjoy your process, certainly.

I should say...my recommendation of Christine York was primarily based on her being listed at the top right under resources. I did take the time to map quest her with respect to Houston. Also, I checked for her being mentioned previously, and the previous admin recommended her, too.

But, independent appraisers should not sell Jewelery. I'm guessing if this is correct, she'll be de-listed. Sorry, as appropriate. I'm going to send a note to admin, to suggest this be checked out.
