Help identifying Words / Symbol on antique ring

Hi there,

I purchased this ring from an antique store a number of years ago but the seller couldn't tell me much about it. I've since been to a few in my local city and the closest I have come to some sort of description is that its probably 100 years old from England and the writing is most likely Hebrew. I've looked at the Hebrew alphabet and still can't identify the Symbols.

Can anyone shed some light? Thank you kindly. (Sorry about the average photos)

I can't tell you anything about the ring except that it's NOT Hebrew.

Looks like a gothic style letter "g" to me.

It does look like lettering from a Gothic or Blackletter font.

I agree, it's Gothic letters. Could be initials, LH?

If it is indeed from England, the marks on the inside of the ring should help you figure out a bit more about it. They're assay marks, and should tell you the gold purity, and the city and year it was assayed. Each major city had its own assay codes back then. Figuring them out isn't always an easy process, but this might help you get started:

BTW I agree with the other posters that the symbols on top of the ring likely tell you very little about the ring itself. They're most likely to give you clues about who the ring was made for.

ETA - I just realized this thread is almost half a year old. Oh well.
