Greetings all,
I found this clip at a thrift store today and almost passed it by as jewelry is not something I know a lot about, but I bought it because it intrigued me. On the back of the clip is etched (not stamped) 18K and 925. I am guessing it is handmade and the llama reminds me of South America. I have tried researching Google and have come up empty, although I found this site. I paid about $30, which I know is way more than melt price, at least for the silver. Whether it is gold plated or gold animals soldered on, I do not know. In any case, I would be happy to hear if anyone knows the country of origin, the maker, and a rough age. 20240219_184126.jpg 20240219_184157.jpg 20240219_184031.jpg 20240219_184018.jpg

Both the llama and the black cat (at the opposite end) show up in vintage Peruvian jewelry.

I should add that in the first picture, the silver looks more like Alpaca silver (.800) than sterling (.925) - but it’s difficult at best to judge something like that just by looking at a piece, let alone from a photo.

The top etching says 18K, and the bottom etching says 925 or 825. The first numeral is hard to make out, but the next are definitely 25.
