Hi not really interested in a price estimate as we'd like to hang onto this nice ring, but we're interested in the style and era, and any other additional information any knowledgeable people out there may be able to provide!

Here's some pics:

It was purchased in Australia. It contains a cloudy white opal in the centre, surrounded by red stones (rubies I think) a rose gold band with nice metalwork.

Many thanks,
Jimmy

There is a jewellers mark which you can see in some of the pictures but I can't make out what it says. Not even sure if they're letters.

Hi, if bought in Australia (I’m Australian) it’s likely to be 9ct gold - stamped 9ct. The red stones look like Garnets. This halo style is reasonably common and still created today. Unless you have English style hallmarks (which would include a date letter and possibly a markers initials) it’s impossible to date. It could be Victorian (which is the style) or much more recent. Value, about $300, if it can be identified as Victorian by the hallmakes, maybe up to $500. If the opal has any damage ie abrasions to the surface, chips or cracks, the value goes down unfortunately.

I would say that it dates to the 1970s. Opal and garnet was a very popular combination at this time. The style of the prongs and overall proportions put it at this date as well.

HI:

Triplet with garnets? Popular style--1970-1980's.

cheers--Sharon

I agree with everyone else. I think it's 1970s-1980s.

Thanks for the input good to have so many people in agreement. Cheers!
