Hello,

I have to decide very soon on the below stones and received the images just yesterday (i posted them also in previous post, but topic is slightly different and may be better to post a new one).

Can you please help me out?
They seem different and less red in the table area than a previous stone I bought so I have some doubts.

0.35ct, E, vs1, t56, d61.4, c.a. 34.5, p.a. 40.8, hca 1.2/1.3

0.35ct, E, vs2, t56, d61.7, c.a. 35.5, p.a. 40.6, hca 1.2/1.3

By the way that's what the seller just told me: While the lighter shade would indicate less strong light return, the difference in person to the unaided eye is negligible. (Vs. A solid red table) - what do you think? Thanks!

Stone 1 is painted. They both are not H&A stones but have reasonably good light return. There is plenty of asymmetry which in a larger diamond probably would contribute to obstruction or dark areas under the table on close viewing, being that these are 0.35c (? For earrings or are you selecting one) then it won't be obvious / impossible to see. Depending on purpose and if the price is right, then they are good, and your jeweller is right. There are better cut diamonds out there, make sure you compare pricing against super ideal stones / or true heart diamonds from James Allen to get an idea if you are getting a reasonable deal.

Thanks a lot for your reply!!! Indeed they are for earrings. Assuming they are priced right, would they serve the cause? Would they be significantly worse than super ideal?

Also what do you mean that the first stone is painted? How would you guess it?

By the way the vendor is JA.

They should indeed serve the cause, how much if you don't mind me asking? Do you have a need for high colour and clarity for earings? You can usually get away with SI stones particularly in smaller carats

Thanks vm again. They are 860$ each, but they are canadian (canadamark) which is a must for the recipient of the stones. And this is one of the few matching pair i found. Hence the E colour. What do you think of the price?

Is the painting on the first only, worsening them as a pair? Would they be much worse than super ideal ones in 0.70 tcwt earrings? I'm afraid of buying something bad...

Ps here the stones:

We went shopping for earrings last year, and received advice that it was OK to go lower in color because the stones were not seen from as close a distance as a ring. My wife put that to the test and was very happy to settle for a J color set in white gold. As a result she was able to get much higher tcwt, and that made her very, very happy!

Thanks Prs. I know i could improve in smth in theory. But i have a few limiting constraints to find a matching pair. Quite interested to hear about this specific pair i posted and their IS images, to understand if they would be very good 0.70 tcwt earrings. Would they given these IS and despite paler red IS and supposed painting? Pls :roll

If you can drop color, these are quite nice and get the wearer into ACA with upgrade. WF only deals in conflict-free and document this. In fact, all major sellers of diamonds have to do reams of paperwork to certify conflict-free.

In CandaMark, if you can drop color (which I think can easily be done), these are a nice options and a bit bigger.

Thanks. Much appreciated. I am still not clear on the ones i originally selected tough. How would they look given their IS images?

They are good but personally I think you are paying too much for the carat weight. The cut is ok and better than a lot, but not excellent due to asymmetry. If they were amazingly priced HSI1/SI2s it's easier to swallow the 800+ dollar price tag each. If you specifically wanted a higher colour, I'd recommend with an open heart, but because you're only going for the higher colour and clarities due to availability then I think you can get larger carat/$ with some more searching. As has been highlighted, there are plenty of alternatives to conflict free diamonds. If you are time pressured they are by definitely decent choices. Painting at 0.3c won't be noticeable in my opinion

Thank you very much for your reply. Not am easy choice, as usual, but at least i understand they would perform well.

Not in particular hurry, but it took already some time to find these ones. If i take them i can return them, even if i'd rather avoid.. if i select others, i will have to ask again for images etc.

Just select a vendor where you don't have to ask for images ... whiteflash or some others have the ASET/IS/Sarin/Certificate freely available. As for searching, there is the pricescope search function. But my suggestion is to email or make initial contact with a vendor or two and just ask them to do the search for you. Whiteflash for instance have never had a problem with me asking within a certain criteria, budget and then they reply with the stones that are available!

Thanks. By the way I told them I was partly dubious on the images and they have replied me they found an issue in the idealscope camera after they sent them to me and that the images should have appeared much stronger than the images turned out. Could t be the case?

Sorry for the many questions and thanks a lot for your replies.
