Hello all,

Brand new here. I am acwatch collector and I have decided to wet my feet on vintage antique jewelry. I aquired this ring which I know nothing about. The cuts on the stones all look handcut. No bubbles or lead glass that I can see. The stones look real and I see includions on a couple of the diamonds. Can anyone feed me some info? Ill be glad to help with watch questions if needed.

Thanks,
Jdean

Very hard to know. The best information that the marks here can give you is that it is 14k gold. BZ is the maker's stamp but again, very difficult to know who the maker is. The style of the ring does not look antique to me; I would guess 60s or later as a very broad offhand range. A quick google led me to find that "BZ" is apparently a common stamp used in jewelry made in China, which would suggest a product made after approx 1979.

It's hard to be sure, but the center stones look like they're princess cuts, which immediately puts it 1960's-present.
And sapphires in these types of rings were often synthetic, but again, hard to be sure from these photos.

Hi, fellow watch collector here but I collect ladies Vintage watches.
Yes, dating is difficult except with British hallmarks (their assay marks include carat, City and a letter for year of assay). Your ring is stamped for 14kt so it’s most likely American. Makers marks, the BK, until really ionic (Tiffany, Bucheron, Cartier) are almost impossible to find / match.
The stones are Princess cut so that will definitely date it as modern - I’d guess between 1970 - 2000 ish. Princess cuts are now a little bit “out of fashion”. The sapphires could be either natural or man made sapphire. One reason why synthetic sapphire are used, even in fine jewellery, is to get a proper “colour match” of blues. Your ring seems to have slightly different toning to the blue so they may well be natural.
It’s a striking ring, enjoy.
