Hi,

Due to some unforeseen circumstances I need a psuedo-engagement ring by next Thursday. Basically, i will be proposing with the pseudo ring then giving her the real ring in June.

I am not looking to spend a lot of money.

Any advice?

How much is not s lot of money? How about a ring pop?

Whatever you use as a proxy, she will probably keep it for its sentimental value, so you might even want it to be a ring that she can wear later-- even a silver ring with a little stone in it. Or a charm of a ring, which she can wear on a chain or bracelet later.

I love this idea, a small stacker ring maybe? How much were you wanting to spend?

Since I didnt plan on this happening, $100 is about all I can muster for a pseudo-ring budget

A simple RHR band of some sort? For $100, I'm not sure you can get anything e-ring like that still looks pretty by next week.

I too loved the ring charm idea. How about this one from Tiffanys $120 with chain (you can buy the charm separately for $80 and then purchase a cheaper chain for $20 to come in on budget)

I guess some backstory is in order. Me and my girlfriend met in Mexico 4 years ago. We are going to Mexico next Thursday. I am having a ring custom designed and made for here but it is going to take longer than originally planned. Therefore I need a pseudo-ring. She is intent on having a ring rather than a charm so I guess this rules out charms.

I could increase my budget to $150 if this broadens my choices any.

LOL,Given how she was expecting the real ring up until the news today, I dont think this idea will fly. Although in other circumstances I think it would be great!

That tiffany charm is $100 in america, so if you buy a cheaper chain to wear with it its still going to be a bit over 100. If youre in america, that is.

The tiffany twist one would be cute i think, but thats 150 too, so.......

Ive been looking on ebay for you, well see what come up

fair enough.

How about one of these danielm stack rings. I don't know what colors he has in stock, you would need to ask. But a little stacker in her birthstone or favorite color would be cute

or there is this cute garnet heart in silver on bluenile

J.C Penney stores sell some dandy cz rings for well under $100. If you go for good pseudo-diamond, in gold, then it will be over your budget. You used to be able to find a nice cz in white or yellow gold for $100 or so in early 200s. Maybe try the T. J, Maxx jewelry counter.

Go vintage, young man. You can find lovely vintage rings for around that sometimes. Given the time limit, stick to Rubylane, Etsy, and BIN on eBay. If you get a nice band, she can use it as a wedding band or travel band?

ETA: I blanked ... Check LoupeTroupe! I know for sure there are bands in there for around that.

Alternately ... Buy a great big semi-precious solitaire she can enjoy wearing until June as a traditionally engagement-ring shaped placeholder? She can wear it as a RHR after. What is her favorite color? Or your birthstones?

I would suggest a simple comfort fit band from e-weddingbands.com. That way, she can use it as a wedding band in the future, or as something to wear on vacations, business trips, etc. Imagine if you had your e-ring on vacation with you, and it disappeared? Maybe this "pseudo e-ring" is a blessing in disguise while you go on your vacay.

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions....

Thanks everyone for the replies and advice. I am going to take some time and digest all this information. I am also going to take a look locally and see what i can find. I will keep you all posted.

Thanks,

G

I vote for the Blue Nile 3-stone garnet ring,  but I don't know your gal's style.................

Good luck! Kohls has really cute sterling silver rings. They are cheap and last!

Thanks! I 'll need some luck to pull this off.

I'm in Canada so I am limited to online with quick shipping or a physical store.

I would say go local then. I also suggest buying something that she can wear on her right hand. Maybe something simple with a heart or engraving.
I noticed a lot of people suggested Tiffany, they do have a thin sterling silver band that says "I love you" on it all the way around. I actually got married with this ring and I love it and I wear it on my right hand because of the meaning behind it.

Hi,

I also would suggest getting a semi-precious stone set in sterling silver. I recommend an amethyst (which comes in all shades of purple) from lavender to deep purple. Its one of my favorite stones. Look on HSN home shopping network or QVC home shopping network. They both have websites.

They also have rings with stones that look like diamonds pretty cheap. You can usually get express shipping.

I ditto this. I wouldn't necessarily get something that looks like an engagement ring.
A gold stacker that can be worn with the engagement ring or on it's own (if you search engraved gold band things come up on ruby lane. If you know what color gold she likes and her size should be easy to search.

I also like idea of a silver band, or a silver and gemstone ring if you know what kind of gemstone she likes.

gregsl,

Check pawn shops. It's a long shot, but you might find something interesting and vintage there.

What size does she wear?

Don't know how easy it is to get things from the US to Canada, but here's a pretty little wedding band for budget. Unfortunately, it's an auction but you might get the seller to do a BIN: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-14k-Gold-Two-Tone-Diamond-Band-Ring-/221211289834?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item33813868ea

This is more engagement-ring-y: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-Diamond-Heart-Engagement-Ring-Two-Tone-14K-Gold-/390572811301?pt=Diamond_Solitaire_Rings&hash=item5aeff42425

This seller has many vintage items at budget prices.
