Just out of curiosity, I checked ebay to see what''s listed that might be similar: http://cgi.ebay.com/2-15CT-ROUND-DIAMOND-ENGAGEMENT-RING-GAL-CERTIFIED_W0QQitemZ120022432352QQihZ002QQcategoryZ67726QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemDate: 8/24/2006 8:01:25 PM

Is this an ebay purchase by any chance????
Good hunting! That sounds almost exactly like what she described! I believe she said she got it from a store in CT and she had only 3 days to return it. I think that was the big rush.Date: 8/25/2006 9:10:03 AM

There are others available like that as well. I can imagine it is an interesting option for people concerned about size above all else, but I would suggest to CoverGirl that she at least view some well-cut diamonds in person as a basis of comparison before making a final decision. Again, I know it is a matter of priorities and she may be perfectly happy to sacrifice cut for size... but it is always good (IMHO) to know your options before spending any quantity of money, even if it seems like a ''deal''.
Well then sounds like you didn't need our help after all!Date: 8/25/2006 9:47:21 AM

Again, my only concern was that it didn't LOOK like a 2ct diamond...possibly because it is a little deep, but still that is only MY opinion because to everyone else it does. Everyone who has asked about it says it for sure looks like over 2 cts. They even take theirs off, tell me the size and say yup...looks like a 2 ct. So, I guess it doesn't look that much smaller because of it's depth.
So, I checked it is real, it is white, and it is relatively clear. It is full of fire and sparkle in any light. I don't care what size it 'looks' because I like it and I have decided to keep it. And the kicker...??? I still have money left in my bank account!
I am happy with my purchase. Like pp said, at that price, maybe I should buy two.

Yay! Well i''m glad your happy. That is after all the point of the ring. Congrats. Do you have larger fingers than your freind? I have about a size 7 finger and when my friend with her little dainty size 4 finger tries it on it looks like over a carat instead of just under! Anyway you should post a picture. I''ve heard a lot of people talk about clarity enhanced stones but i''ve never seen one.Date: 8/25/2006 9:47:21 AM

That isn''t where I got my diamond, but nice hunting because it is almost the same size.
I haven''t been looking into buying a diamond for 2 days. I have been searching for quite a while. I have been to MANY jewelry stores and know how diamonds are supposed to look and enough about the importance of a good cut over all else. This ring looks just like the one I tried on at a large chain store except they wanted 12k for theirs and it was only a 1.5 ct.
It might be a little deep...but it stil sparkles more than most rings I have tried on. Because of this sparkle- you cannot see any inclusions unless you take it out of direct light and bring it very close to your face. It is a very white ring. I have other diamonds and they are slightly yellow in color when compared to this diamond.
The appraiser said it had a good cut. Not perfect, but good. If I wanted a flawless diamond with perfect cut and clarity I would be selling my house.

Your opinion should be the only one that matters. Just because "everyone else" thinks it looks like at least 2 carats doesn''t mean you will be happy in the long run. Many people here have diamonds in the G-J range and absolutely love them. I chose a D becasue anything lower would not make me happy and would in fact drive me crazy as I constantly looked for the tint that caused it not to be completely colorless. If I had gotten an F or a G, everyone else may have thought it was very white but I would not have. You have to please yourself first.Date: 8/25/2006 9:47:21 AM

Mara's post explained everything perfectly, but if you'd like to verify for yourself... just go to "Pricescope your diamond" at the top of the page and take a look at the average dimensions of 1.75ct stones, then the average dimensions of 2.17ct stones. Again, if you love the ring, great! But as Mara pointed out, it's always good to be informed... especially when making a multi-thousand dollar purchase!Date: 8/25/2006 4:17:17 PM

ok. My ring DOES in fact look like 2 cts. I think the problem was that I wasn't putting them side by side for comparison. I took the same ring that I thought was bigger at almost 2cts and put it up next to mine and I can easily notice that mine is bigger. (Thus making it a true 2.17 ct) It was also way more white than hers too. I love the whiteness of my diamond so I know what you are saying about not being happy even if other people think it is nice.
