Question, and I might be asking the impossible BUT can somebody guestimate how tall/high this setting is? Measurements of the center stone are 8.15 - 8.21 x 5.10 mm if it helps to know the depth!

my guess is around 8-9mm.

Thank you SO much for responding...I wasn't quite sure how the height of a setting was measured, so now I am guessing it is from the top of your finger to the top of the stone? This is really tall, BUT I will most likely be able to wear a band that sits next to the ring, right? I saw someone on here who had stacked wedding rings right next to her engagement ring and I LOVED that look, I am hoping to be able to do the same.

Thanks again ame!

I was measuring from the bottom of the ring where you'd have it on your finger to the top of the stone, and its not quite a full 5.1mm from the culet to the bottom of the ring to make it 10. IF you have a ruler with MM's on it, you could lay the ring on top of it to get a more exact guess. I personally like really high settings. It's not for everyone but that's about my ideal height there. :)

As for stacking, the big catch is that the base of the head has a bit of a donut and that protrudes on the ring enough that a straight band against that will have a gap.

yes, you can get a flush fit ring by removing the donut and it is possible with a lower setting if you prefer.

Way higher than 8mm. My last halo was 8mm off the finger. This thing is a good centimeter and WAY to high IMO.

thanks ame! The ring is already purchased, I loved it in the store when my bf bought it and I haven't seen it since so I can't measure it! His mother was concerned it might be too high and that I might bang it on too many things but I really lovedddd it!! So we will see what happens when I actually get it :)

gypsy- the ring is already purchased, I may change the setting later on down the road to something more simplistic. Why do you say its too much? You don't like the look or do you think it's just not manageable/realistic for daily wear?

From the photo alone, it looks like the space to the tip of the culet is exactly 2/3 of the height of the stone, so... 3.4mm? So that makes it... 8.5mm?

Thanks Tristan, I think you are spot on actually....I blew the photo up in photo shop and drew a line from the top of the diamond to the culet than i dragged that same line from the base of the culet to the bottom of the ring it was a little less than 3/4 more! It is actually not as high as I thought then (probably just around 8.6mm), which might be a good thing since I was afraid it might get damaged!

I think you're in the right ballpark -- I'm getting 8.415mm (using my highly scientific ruler up against the monitor technique!). :))

I personally don't mind the height. I actually whack my lower set ring more than any ring I had set high.
