Hi everyone,
I only just discovered this forum a week ago and since then I have become addicted to this site. I''ve been lurking around not really sure if I should join, but then gave in to my crazy need to become a member. Let me apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge in the diamond area, but I''m sure all the experts(trained and untrained) will be able to help. Can anyone recommend a reputable place in the Toronto area to buy a loose diamond-I''m not really interested in buying over the net. Also is it possible to buy a 1.0ct RB ideal cut diamond of very good quality for $5K to $7K? Or, am I fooling myself? Also, what kind of certificate should I be looking for? AGS? GIA? Or, store specific? Thanks in advance for all your help.

I'm just a newbie myself but someone recently posted a long story of their Toronto buying experience:

Hi Arlington,

Thanks for the quick reply. I did actually read that post, but if I'm not mistaken the stone still needed to be ordered in from the states, or at least that was my understanding when I went to the stated website.

Well, I believe you are right in that the stone was ordered from the states ultimately...but the dealer that the person went to was located in a suburb of Toronto. The buyer was able to go there and work with the dealer in person. That's what I took from it at least.

I'm not sure that if you went to a typical Mall store that the stones wouldn't have ultimately come from the US either, or anywhere else for that matter.
