Help! Fluorescence 1.5ct stones

Hi all,

Found a nice looking round brilliant at local BM with strong blue fluorescence for $9,750. Happy with the clarity and color, liked the look of the fluorescence under black light. Compared it to a non-fluorescence stone at the window to try and get an idea of sparkle in sunlight and seemed pretty much the same to me. Gonna see if I can get a idealscope or equivalent scope look at the diamond to check for light return.

What are your opinions on fluorescence, overall quality of stone and value for price?
I have another BM talking with his brokers to find a similar or better stone with medium or strong fluorescence for same or better price, says he's gonna twist his brokers arm a little to beat the price on this stone.

Fluorescence is a subjective personal thing. As long as it doesn't make the stone hazy / oily / milky you are good. I have a stone w/ SB fluor and I love it!

Have you used the HCA before? Under tools above. Diamonds are pretty accurately priced. Some GIA excellents are better cut than others. For my money I would want the best cut possible. You can also use the diamond search tool above and can find other diamonds of the same size,color and clarity. That will give an idea of the price of whether or not is in line with other diamonds. I would pass on this particular diamond. But you will have to increase your budget a bit more to find a really well cut diamond in this size. Stick with GIA excellent or AGS ideal cut grades. An Idealscope image of would be very helpful. Hope this helps!!!

I agree that the crown angle is a little high for that pavilion angle, but without an idealscope image, it is hard to tell if there is leakage. The other thing I don't really like about that stone is that it is a little too deep (best to stay at 62.3% or less) and that makes the stone face up a little smaller. I like a 1.5 stone to be closer to 7.4mm.

But I do have a 1.58 ct. diamond with strong blue fluorescence, and it is gorgeous! So I am all for taking advantage of the lower prices on stones with bf because I think it is a bonus!

Yeah HCA wasnt very good somewhere around 4.5 I believe. I would rather see a scoped report regarding light return however, seems like that's the true test. Im afraid to find anything close to this value though I will have to be looking online, still unsure about online buying but warming up to the idea. Do online vendors do 18 or 24 month 0% interest?

Liked the guy at this shop more than the guy trying to bring me in a stone to beat this one especially in terms of customer service and warranty on work after the sale! I think in the end I would have to go with the cheaper better quality diamond, can always get mounting done somewhere else.

I will see if I can get specs for the other guys stone today.
