Help finding similar Jared setting

My girlfriend fell in love with a setting from Jared, but everything I have read is it is a much better deal to buy online. Should I buy the setting from Jared and the center diamond online? They quoted the setting at $2k, and $400 to set the center stone. I cant seem to find a similar setting online. She also wants it from Jared so the cleaning and plating is covered. Would the cost savings of buying it online outway the cost of replating and cleaning over the years?

Do you already have the center stone? What are its specs (color, clarity, size in mm, weight, and graded by whom)? If not, let's start with that. Once you have a vendor for the diamond, its often easier to buy a setting from the same (assuming that's not Jared, Kay or their ilk)

You have the right instincts. Most semi-mounts will come with the side stones so how large you will want those will depend on the size of the center..., to bear that in mind with these noted below. Just be sure to make sure to order the right size based on the size in mm (not just carat weight). These have a variety of side profiles that offer some grace.

Thank you. No, I do not have a center stone. Jared tried to sell me a 1.0 carat for almost $10k! Im thinking a .8 would be more than enough with this setting. I would like to keep it under $5k total for the ring and stone if possible.
 
I am thinking your girlfriend likes this setting so much because she has not seen other settings. Please look at some of the trellis three stone settings. They have a much prettier profile than this. Go for a well cut stone at whatever size you decide will fit in your budget. You will get so much more bang for your buck, in that, the stone will have wonderful optics. That is really what you get a diamond for, right?
 
I really think she should try a few more 3 stone styles on, so she can see the difference in types of side profiles.

I'm sure you'll find her a lovely ring but I also think you shouldnt jump too soon on that one.
 
Also, cost wise, I had my original set replated only once in 10ish years, because it looked a little worn on the bottom. It was about 80 bucks, so i think your budget would stretch a lot farther with an online vendor. :)
 
With JA, but the diamond on hold ASAP if you have interest. Demand is high right now. You'll then want to ask for an Idealscope (IS) image. WF diamonds are "super ideal". So, they are like "hearts on fire" and other very precision cut diamonds that have stupendous fire. WF has a very generous upgrade policy of giving 100% cost of old diamond toward new of any incremental increase in cost, while JA requires you double the cost of the new one (yes...upgrades are pretty normal). You don't need to get IS images from WF as they are all right on the website.

The three stone settings are $1300 and up. You can get a very pretty solitaire for under $1k.

I'm thinking your gf can't have looked at that setting much from the side - it looks like it would be a complete nightmare to wear for snagging and catching on things plus the way the side stones are separated from the central stone will make it a pain to keep clean. That setting PB linked is gorgeous and $600 less than the Jared one. A WF ACA will blow anything Jared has out of the water in terms of sparkle.
 
ditto pintobean, that WF setting is BEAUTIFUL! Way better quality than the Jared (which looks terribly clunky, the peg head is just plopped between the two side stones. the WF will be way way prettier overall and you'll get a MUCH better stone)

Also just to add, ANY jewelry store will do free cleanings. replating is not terribly expensive either.
 
I hate to mention it because I love that WF setting but it does not include the side stones. They would be extra.

Edit...with .5 ctw sides it is $2675. They can do smaller which is what I would recommend. You would
need to contact WF to see what .3 ctw would run.
 
Thank you for all your advice. I showed my GF the whiteflash butterfly ring and she said it does look much nicer from the side. However, she is concerned that it looks like the metal prongs are too thick for the smaller stones and wont fit right with an eternity band. What she liked about the Jared setting is that the band is flatter. Should this be a concern?

Also, I asked WF about the side stones, they are not included. With just the side stones it would be $2675.

We can find you a setting she likes but if she’s concerned about how well it’s made and how much metal is showing I can’t imagine she’s be happy with that Jared’s thing
 
I just chatted with JamesAllen and three stone 17197 accommodates the tallest band and matches well will 56254 (half pave, but they offer the same in a full pave eternity).

These would fit with a flush or nearly flush band. The side stones are included in the price.

IDJewelry is a PS recommended vendor and can likely call many of the diamonds we find from BlueNile or JA. They have set other people ACA from WF -- if you prefer their diamonds.
 
Nothing requires a slightly curved band but I see our point. I still think it’s very similar to the style she likes.
