Help finding horizontal baguette wedding band

Hi everybody. I think that a horizontal baguette band like this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-000-1-34CT-SIDEWAY-BAGUETTE-CUT-PLATINUM-DIAMOND-ETERNITY-WEDDING-BAND-VS-/150866299320?pt=US_Wedding_Bands_with_Diamonds_Gemstones&hash=item23205509b8

would look good with my AVC solitaire. I'm hoping that baguettes won't provide as striking contrast as RBs in a wedding band (my AVC is an M). I've been told that french cuts are the optimal choice for this, but they seem pretty rare and not really cost-effective.

My engagement ring is platinum, so the band needs to be platinum. I really like the look of the band in the eBay link, but I don't want to pay $4700 for it (more than my e-ring!). The band doesn't need to be eternity -- half eternity or even five or so baguettes channel set would be just fine. I'm having a really hard time finding bands that look like this, regardless of price.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the recommendations!

This one looks good. I contacted them for a price in platinum.

However, I am in LOVE with: http://www.singlestone.com/index.php?page=collections&catID=9&startRow=5 from the baguette eternity thread. I emailed Heather at SingleStone, but I already have a feeling that I won't be able to afford whatever they quote me. That ring is perfect though.

I asked Singlestone for a quote for a French cut and round wedding band and it was upwards of 6k. Now I can I ly gawk at the beautiful beautiful French cut bands. Unless I sell a kidney...

No doubt french cut baguettes are stunning but they are VERY expensive. Even small ones.
I'm pretty sure that SS ring is between 5 and 6k.

Being poor sucks!

I found this one by Leon:
http://www.micropave.com/index.php/wedding-bands/wedding-bands/antique-wedding-band.html
Much more affordable, and I think it would look good with my engagement ring. The only sizes available are 5 and 6 -- not my size. Is it kind of a, "we make a certain number, and when they're gone, they're gone" kind of thing, or can I custom order one in my size?

http://www.etsy.com/listing/84857351/platinum-art-deco-style-diamond
This one is nice too. Also offered in alternating french cut and round:

Sorry to be such a bother if anyone is still reading this thread:

Ever since seeing that Single Stone ring, I can't get it out of my mine. I got the quote back from them -- 6k. I *can* afford it, but I really shouldn't. Especially since the cost of my wedding band would be over 2k more than my engagement ring. Something about that doesn't sit right with me. I asked about making it in half eternity -- they told me they would do it, but it would only bring the cost down by 20-25%.

I know Leon does a lot of work with french cuts, but the only style on his site right now in line with the Single Stone band has the french cuts upside down. I tried to use their "quote request" form, but I couldn't get it to submit. I've had a lot of trouble with his website in general.

Does anyone know about what Leon charges for custom work? I know the price of his upside down french cut band was far more in line with what I want to spend. I don't want to waste his time if the price quote for is similar to Single Stone.

I haven't seen a french cut baguette band from Leon around here. If you'd like a quote on that from him it is probably just best to call him - I think a lot of people around here seem to have better luck getting quotes from him after making phone contact. But just fyi, it is the french cut baguette stones that drive up the cost of the ring, not so much the labor so I would be very surprised if Leon's quote was affordable.

As far as other thoughts:

You might try reaching out to Victor Canera or JBEG for a quote on a ring like you want for comparison.

Realistically, standard baguettes as opposed to french cut baguettes should be lower in cost and may be a better fit for what you're looking to spend. French cuts are just really pricey.

The ERD baguette band posted in this thread is really pretty. Have you looked at the Beverly K baguette and round band - I think it is around 4K. Perlman's sells them.

Oh and I think Leon's calibre band is stunning and would look amazing with your ring as well.

Because of the highlighted above, I wouldn't settle for anything else then. You will likely not be satisfied with anything but the SS ring, in my experience at least!

I happen to have a particular baguette SS ring on my list and I have thought many a time to get it made by someone else, but really, what's 2K more when you know it will be PERFECT and you'll never want to change it. To me, that is priceless as I won't have to deal with any dissatisfaction or nagging thoughts of 'what if'...

Oh, and you have lovely taste! Good luck with the search!

I know your pain - I spent years and years drooling over french cut eternities. I finally found one at a price I could swallow, but it literally took years of persistent searching. If you don't mind trolling eBay and peeking into little antique stores (which I do as a matter of course), it's a good way to go: just earmark it for a future anniversary and get another style you love that's more accessible in the meantime.

On the other hand, if you want it now, there are some alternatives.

Weddingrings.com has a few variations: their biggest one is 8.5K for what looks to be ... two and a half, maybe three carats? http://www.weddingrings.com/item.cfm?int_item_id=647&category_id=31&grouping_id=9 but they also have interesting slim bands, like so: http://www.weddingrings.com/item.cfm?int_item_id=665&category_id=31&grouping_id=9 2.2 mm for less than three grand ain't bad, when it comes to french cuts. .80 pts. is 3K, which sounds sorta like what you're thinking: http://www.weddingrings.com/item.cfm?int_item_id=659&category_id=31&grouping_id=9

Doyle and Doyle is another company that seems to carry french cut bands, but eschews details: this looks a lot like the .80 pointer above, and the price is almost identical, but it might be worth contacting both to see what the specs are: http://www.doyledoyle.com/cgi-bin/c...mtemplate=PDGCommTemplates/HTN/Item_ring.html

I don't know what size you wear, but Israel Rose/NewYorkEstateJewelry.com has a couple of 3+carat bands hovering in the 4 to 4.5K range, and one 1.5 carat band for around 2.5K. Example of one of the 3 carat bands: http://www.doyledoyle.com/cgi-bin/c...mtemplate=PDGCommTemplates/HTN/Item_ring.html The only thing is, all their big bands are square french cuts. The 1.5 carat one looks like it might be french baguettes (they have crap photography but good prices and selection - worth checking, anyway): http://www.newyorkestatejewelry.com...--diamond-eternity-wedding-band/19380/15/item

And that's all I've got, off the top of my head. I will say, it's worth it: I used to wonder if I was being too Pokemon-crazy-collector-gotta-catch-'em all with my craving a french-cut eternity, but the sparkle really is totally different from any of my other bands. Haven't taken mine off since I got it. :cheeky:

I really like the Leon one - did you call and check if they can make your size?

Wow, thanks for all of the great ideas! I'm a size 7.75 -- I am so bummed that neither one of the estate pieces would fit me. The lower carat weight one would have been perfect.

I think this one is great: http://www.weddingrings.com/item.cfm?int_item_id=665&category_id=31&grouping_id=9#
And it says it can be made with all french cuts. I don't know anything about this company -- I hope they're reputable. I do find it weird that both the above band and this one: http://www.weddingrings.com/item.cfm?int_item_id=659&category_id=31&grouping_id=9# are supposed to be 2.2mm in width. The second one looks a lot bigger (and is significantly more expensive), but it could be the computer playing tricks on me.

The Doyle & Doyle one: http://www.doyledoyle.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=2829&itemtemplate=PDGCommTemplates/HTN/Item_ring.html is nice too. Again, not a company I've heard of until today. Like you said, I wish they would provide more information.

I know I posted this Etsy one earlier: http://www.etsy.com/listing/84857351/platinum-art-deco-style-diamond
It makes me nervous dropping that much money on Etsy though.

I haven't called Leon yet about the antique calibre band. I'm hoping it could be made with the french cuts "right side up" instead of upside down. That spiky look isn't doing it for me. I also really prefer the rectangular stones, and this one is just so square.

I still love the Single Stone one, though. Le sigh. I wish they posted more views of each ring style.

On some of the bands it looks like the inside of the band is filled in, whereas in others, it looks like there are holes behind each stone. My FI really wants to be able to engrave my wedding band. I thought I'd have to get a 1/2 or 3/4 eternity for that reason, but maybe some of these are viable options?

I think I'm just going to have to suck it up and call Leon. I'm a little terrified of him after reading some of the stories on here, but I'm a big fan of his work.

Hi Claire!

How about this one from DimendScaasi? http://www.dimendscaasi.com/wedding/forHer/pages/wed01C.asp

I would also call Mark at ERD for a quote. He just made PS-er antiquecushionseeker her baguette eternity in platinum, which I see someone linked. I was curious and asked about price, and I think she said high 2's? Its in the thread. But anyway, Im sure you can get a significant price reduction if you did half eternity or even wg. So just a thought. Email them or just call- Mark and Chris are the best!!!

Good luck!!

Has anyone ever heard of Orospot? They quoted me $2450 for 3/4 eternity and $1800 for half eternity. http://www.etsy.com/listing/84857351/platinum-art-deco-style-diamond

I haven't been able to find many reviews (besides the feedback on Etsy).

I've never heard of them but to my eyes that band doesn't look as "finished" as some of the other options posted.

Did you ever get in contact with Leon?

I think this band that Circe suggested is a good option too:
