ok...so gem is being cut!

need a setting vendor...
the setting that I thought was going to be around $250 [advertised price] is now close to $500 ....

anyone have good vendor / affordable too? i can't remember where the long list of vendors is... thanks.

I like this setting a lot! I doesn't look like an engagement ring, which I think is what you were hoping for. My only hesitation might be the amount of metal that would be sitting under and surrounding the asscher cut stone with that setting. I don't know if that would affect showing off that type of cut? I think you were hoping for an asscher, but am not sure if that is the final cut you went with. Hopefully someone with more experience can chime in on that aspect of the setting, or maybe even the cutter would be able to tell you if a more open setting would be ideal with an asscher.

I am trying not to look engagement-y as it's for a sweet 16. so thanks.

also i am also concerned about all that metal with an asscher...

so frustrating...

the stone will be 6.5mm and cost $260

I thought I found a great semi mount [on page 1] but she said in order to accomodate stone, etc... close to $500..
that just seemed excessive...

the settings I have posted are around $250-$330 which includes his work...but no accent diamonds...the ones i posted were the least engagement-y i could find...they are stuller semi mounts...

what about sally from heart of water jewelery? Not sure what her price range is as of late but can't hurt to ask!

She used mysacrum on Etsy and the project came out incredible. Think he did it for 200$ too!

You could also post on loupetroop that your ISO a setting for your stone-who knows what PSers have hiding in their jewelery boxes for future projects that didn't happen.

I like the 3rd one in your first post on this page. But I really don't think you can go wrong with any of them. None are too e-ring like but still are classic and flattering.

Have you looked at Diamond Zone? I talked to them about adapting a setting to fit a stone, and if I remember correctly it was in the $200-300 range.

I'm pretty sure diamond zone is the etsy ivy and rose vintage. They had the setting i loved on page one...was $249 [$261 i think for 6.5 size finger]...to fit the 6.5mm asscher price jumped to $495. I asked if there were settings that could accomodate that stone more in the <$400 range but she never got back with me..I also sent ebay message to diamond zone dec 29 but never heard back.

finished stone...ended up being a little smaller than originally desired because of an inclusion... it's now 6mm .98carat 100% clean.
he's trying to find a source for the setting style I like [posted above]...

thanks. i'm a little unsure of the color...it's so light...but the cut looks nice to my untrained eye....

here is uncut stone...it's the one on the left.. here is another shot of stone. I think it will look nice if i can find a setting...fingers crossed...

I checked the setting listings from Etsy shop IvyandRoseVintage, and they use the same pics as MyDiamondZone of eBay fame.

And I like the finished stone as I like my Aquas pale.

good news now that it's smaller is that it might fit some of the diamondzone settings. I have emailed them...

I've done massive searches online and am not finding much else...searching through threads on here for vendors, etc. etsy and ebay....

If anyone wants to stab at a filigree white gold setting for 6mm asscher under $400 [prefer $300ish] I'd appreciate it. :O)

ElizabethR. Thanks for feedback. I have looked at stuller as the gem cutter uses them. I just can't seem to find one that is more of a design i like without lots of diamonds i can't afford.

Consider calling ivy and rose / my diamond zone again. Sometimes when it looks like the price has gone up it is because the listing is for platinum instead of white gold

Diamond Zone has the setting you liked listed in a version that says it will work for a 5.5-6.3mm princess. I think that it could work for an asscher as well, but would check with them first. Here is a link to that listing:

I emailed ETSY contact about this listing as the ebay contact not as helpful...she said it would work. I was concerned because in the paragraph underneath the quick description which showed 5.5-6.3 mm it said best for 6.2 mm to 7.5 mm stone...[but that was round I think]...anyway...she said it should work for a 5.9 mm asscher! it's relisted! but still not as a buy it now. I've requested it switched to buy it now. Wish me luck.

UPDATE!

they changed it to buy it now. couldn't verify it would fit 5.9 mm asscher but there's a 30 day return so fingers crossed...
It's also the right ring size so that's another plus.

ok...so the gem cutter who did this stone said he ordered some 'medium blue-green aquamarine from Nigeria. I could probably get about a 1.5 carat stone in my price range...Thoughts?

Also a setting I am considering... thoughts again?

the ring is here...thrilled!

Bryan Wiebe from Stag and Finch cut the beautiful asscher stone [1 carat]...it's beautiful. so sparkly. blue or green depending on lighting. love it.

I ordered the setting from Ivy and Rose [mydiamondzone on ebay]...I mailed them the stone and they set the stone...

It looks great. So happy. Can't wait to give it to her. Here are pics...my older daughter and I wore it around ;o) for the pictures only really. lol.

Knock out ring! I'm happy to see Ilya's work. I sent him some diamonds and he received them on Tuesday. He is setting a loose .37 into a martini pendant and resetting 4 prong screwbacks into martini settings. I sent him my original engagement ring and he is either going to make a pendant for me or possibly will make a right hand ring. I wanted him to look at the diamond first.

He was super responsive to my emails (even while on vacation).
