Help finding an engagement ring.

Looking to spend between 4-6k on an engagement ring and really get a lot of bang for my buck. Ideally it needs to be clean to the eye, roughly 1 - 1.5 carats with an ideal to excellent cut with a H-I color grade. Help me find something amazing! Also unsure what setting might look good with this but leaning towards a 14k tiffany solitaire look. Thanks

*have you looked at I/J colored stones? If you are trying to go large with your budget you'll probably need to go down to J but
suggest you go view some well cut J colored stones before you decide if you can go that low.

It all depends on your sensitivity. In general (from what I see here on PS), a lot of people start seeing some color at I. They still
look fairly white but you might see some tint.

For bang for your buck when you want to try to go larger in side I would suggest an "I"...it you are not color sensitive then you*
may be able to go to a J. That's why it would help to go see some well cut I/J stones in person.

This is a very personal decision, honestly. Many people are very diamond-focused - meaning they will look for the best possible diamond within their budget and often use a "simple" solitaire setting. Others have a specific setting style they are looking for and determine their setting even before picking the center diamond. Sometimes this means the diamond has to fit their 'remaining' budget.

In my experience those who are "setting focused" will usually stay with the same vendor for both while those who are 'diamond-focused' will shop the hundreds of thousands of available diamonds, narrowing it down to their specific criteria, and may be just as likely or not to use the same vendor for the setting.

In short - if you have a 'most important' factor - get that absolutely right. The other portion will often fall in place during the process.

The markings inside my James Allen ring are "14k JA" so no, they do not say "JAMES ALLEN" like in the CAD images.

Here is the problem, your current requirements exceed your budget. With the same requirements you will have to come down in color to get a minimum of 1 to 1.2. at the most. This is why you are being shown J color and SI2's. Round brilliants cost more too.

If you want a lot of bang for your buck meaning it looks like a million bucks, but didn't cost it, here are some rings to look at. Diamonds by Lauren rings always look as good as the pictures or better in person. If you walked into Tiffany's with the DBL ring in a Tiffany's style, Tiffany's would think it was one of theirs!

These rings are a complete package, pretty stone, beautiful setting and superior workmanship that is obvious. Wire transfer will take 5% off the price too. If you don't live in NY, no tax. I have bought from them many times.

Rings that are not solitaires have more finger coverage and tend to look more expensive in my opinion. Unless you just have to have a round.
