Hi,

I'm looking for a round diamond to put in an engagement ring and I would really appreciate some help in finding a nice pick. I'm planning to buy an unset stone from the US online (I'm in Sweden). My budget is about 6-6.5k USD for the stone.

I know that the size of the stone is important to my girlfriend and I was hoping to be able to get a 1.3-1.4 ct stone but I have started to realize that maybe I can't if I want a good quality stone?

I don't think that my girlfriend is too sensitive to color, judging from the stones we have looked at together, but she still wants it to be appear white. I'm thinking that an I color should work fine, or maybe a J but it will eventually be set in yellow gold so I think that maybe a J will get too warm.

I don't really now about clarity but I'm thinking an SI1 or maybe an SI2 as long as the inclusions aren't to obvious. In the end the most important to my gf is size and sparkle. Do you have any suggestions?

Many thanks in advance.

You can for sure get close to the 1.2 carat mark if you don't mind not having a superideal cut stone and look at some of the virtual inventory vendors. There are some with great looking cuts available. However, if you do go that route I would recommend that you stick to vs2 or higher OR talk with the vendor about them doing a thorough inspection of the stone prior to shipping to you to make sure it is eye clean from all distances and angles. If it isn't then just have them refund you, but you would likely have to pay to get the stone sent to them to inspect it. Here are a few:

If you wanna go with an SI2 I would be sure to go with someone who has the stone on hand and can look at the inclusions for you to see how visible they are or how much they affect performance.
