Help finding a Center Stone for Trilogy Ring

I'm attempting to create a RH trilogy ring using 2X .30 round transitional diamonds as my side stones (stones from grandmothers ring) and a gemstone as the center. I love the Lily round trilogy ring by Victor Canera. I don't know much about gemstones and costs seem to vary greatly online but basically I'm looking to source a round stone that's approximately 7mm in size. I'm open to various gemstones but tend to gravitate towards blues, purples or even yellows. I'm clearly not looking for the most expensive stone and want to understand if I could get a decent stone in the size I want for no more than $1000. Is that even possible or am I totally out of my mind?

Does it have to be a round, or would you be open to an oval as well? (That would open up some more choices).

For blues and purples, sapphire might be a good place to start. Finding a 7mm ideal blue sapphire would be hard, but something more pale blue or purple is probably doable. Do you like pale colors, or more saturated colors?

Here's a sapphire that shows both blue and purple:

For yellow, chrysoberyl would be something to consider, but you might also be able to find a yellower sapphire too. Maybe something like this?

I guess I never considered anything but a round center stone but I'm definitely not opposed to an oval of that opens up more options. The setting I love and stones available are completely above my budget so I need to start from scratch. Basically I just want to create a 3 stone RHR with a decent gemstone as the center and my grandmothers diamonds as the side stones.

I prefer more saturated colors versus pale tones. I'm even open to creating the ring in gold vs platinum to drive down costs and make it feel more like a RHR.

Of the stones you suggested I think I prefer the second one but don't love it. Below is a picture of a color I really love.

Here's a couple more sapphires; they both have some small inclusions, but I think the color is close to the purple ypu like:

Another spinel:

These are tanzanite, so with that in mind are these interesting? If so we might do a deeper dive into that:

As a longshot, is this an interesting color? Its garnet, and is more red than the example you posted, but..

And that doesnt really hit much yellow :)

It's a beautiful stone, isn't it? Truth be told, that's actually my best friend. :D We looked for years without any luck, until Elle (http://thegemstoneproject.com) and Mayer & Watt (http://mayerandwatt.com) came to the rescue. Granted, she was super specific in her search, but she also had a healthy budget. That color and size are far, far from $1k. 7mm is a decent size for a sapphire, and rounds further limit your choices. Do you have a time frame?

Thank you for all the suggested stones. I definitely like a few of them including the last yellow round sapphire that was posted. Color wise I think I like the purple family better and shape wise I love the idea of an oval but not sure I love it paired with 2 rounds. My preference is to pair a oval center with pears or half moons. I'm not in any rush to create this ring but id like to do it sooner rather than later.

Chris Aluetta has an amazing oval for sale right now that is a blue to purple color shift stone. It's really pretty, 2ct, $600. I can't link it because he only has videos, but if you search his name I bet you can find it.

Both of these stones are really pretty. I really love the color of the 2ct from Chris but the round spinal is also beautiful. I reached out about the round spinal to see if anything can be done with the price.

I also requested additional pics so I can see the color when it doesn't have backlighting. Thanks for the tip!

FWIW, I find photos on the hand to be one of the most helpful ways to ascertain the color and appropriateness of the stone. It is hard to do anything too egregious re photoshopping as the hand color would likely give it away. It also prevents back lighting and gives a true representation of the size of the stone on a hand. :))

Thanks! I will make sure to request that type of photo. I just found this photo of a trilogy ring that I like. Clearly I'm looking for a different color center stone and probably a plain shank.

It's a cushion cut stone. Lovely ring. I am partial to a cushion cut with round side stones. I'm enjoying reading about your stone hunt!

are cushion gemstones easy to find for a decent price? This is definitely what I want.

They are not as common as rounds or ovals, but not as hard to find as you might think.
There are two nice cushion stones in the color groups you mentioned in a closed fb gem marketplace I'm on. If either are interesting to you, I can tell you how to quest to join the group.

First one is a nice unheated Ceylon saphhire cushion 1.86cts, 7.4mm x 6.3mm x 4mm and its listed at $599.

The second photo is a lovely blue purple zircon cushion. 8.81cts measuring 11.5mm x 9.5mm x 8mm for $650.

The photos are not mine; they belong to the individuals selling the stones. Since its a closed fb group, I can't use a link.

On Facebook, search in groups for Fine Faceted Gems & Cabs Market. Click the request join button. Once you're in, search for cushion and it will be in the search results.
