I am having a Halo ring custom made (Similar in style to the RItani french set halo) but am still in need of the centre stone. I am really needing this now by Thursday as plans changed, so it is a quite last minute!

Budget is up to $3300 AUD. 0.60 carat or thereabouts. The stones I have been looking at have been E - G in colour, anything up to SI1 if eye clean and ideal / excellent cut.

Would anybody be able to recommend somewhere in Australia that would be able to ship out in time? Or a place in Melbourne? Or any stones that you would recommend that would be able to get to me in time?

Hi Mike,

I've done some engagement ring shopping in Sydney, and my favourite guy to deal with was at Larsen Jewellery in Sydney. He was very upfront about the characteristics of the diamonds he had, and I just got a good vibe from him. Anyway, they have a store in the GPO in Melbourne, so maybe you could go and check it out? In Sydney they stock a range of standard ring designs, and work with you to find the right diamond. They were able to put a finished ring together (once the diamond was found) in a day or two - if you've already got the setting, I bet they could get it done for you quickly if you find the diamond there.

If you want a huge range, try Delphi Diamonds in Sydney. I think if you call them they will be able to send you a list of what they have to fit your requirements, and maybe some videos of the ones that strike your fancy. If you can get there to inspect, so much the better.

Good luck!

SS

Try Jogia Diamonds. They have this one:

Maybe a diamond expert could say fi it is any good!

Thanks Glam. This was actually one I was looking at in my previous thread, but the feedback wasn't good and there are some inconsistencies with the AGS report and their cut report which was worrying.

Oh sorry Mike I'm obviously not keeping up!

Re: Help finding 0.6ct in Melbourne Australia, Thursday dead

The cut of the Jogia diamond is Ideal but the SI1 clarity is based on clouds not shown, this on its own is a red flag for milkyness or cloudiness due to the cloud unfortunately, I picked it up in the photo first and then checked the certificate for the cloud

I'd call Danny Toren from The Diamond Centre in Brisbane. I've bought all my stones there so have my mum and three sisters. He can post one to you easily. Well priced and a great company. They're in the city here. Let me know if you need more info - Lauren

Re: Help finding 0.6ct in Melbourne Australia, Thursday dead

I've been offered this one by the same people making the ring. Any comments on this particular report? Unfortunately no pictures as of yet, but he can get in stock this afternoon if I'd like to go and see.

I've also been looking on http://www.diamondimports.com.au/ as they seem to have a few in stock. Struggling to find a great option at that price point though. Would appreciate if anyone could take a look and point me in the right direction if they can find any?

Did you check out this diamond, photo included looks like a very good Si1 ....

Sorry Treasurehunter, I must have missed your first post with this stone!

It looks like a nice stone! Do you think the medium blue fluorescence would cause any issues? Also, with both the table and depth at similar levels, it shows up quite large. I would have to find out if they could ship out in time if I did proceed with this option. Would love some further feedback on this stone!

Re: Help finding 0.6ct in Melbourne Australia, Thursday dead

Is there some reason it has to be here this Thursday? Brian Gavin, James Allen, Whiteflash, Victor should all be able to ship something if you paid in the next day or two and it will be here by next week.

You will possibly find a better cut stone more easily online - Brian Gavin just had a sale for example and even with the duties and taxes and our rubbish dollar the cost of the stone is still probably going to be around the same amount or less and there is far more to choose from.

Hi Arkieb1,

I need it by Thursday as I'm proposing this weekend!!

Treasurehunter,

I've just been to see that stone in person and it's very nice. Can see the twinning wisp under the microscope by very clean and bright to the eye. Shows up quite large also. I think this is the one!!

I'm off to see the other one now to compare and then hopefully decide!

I go to Janai Jewelry on Collins St in Melbourne. Ask for Laura (or Tim, if Laura is not there).

Best of luck with your quest :wavey:
