Guys,

I''m considering purchasing this diamond for an engagement ring. The selling price is 5,850.00. I''d just like to get an expert opinion on the light return/brilliance/etc for this stone and if the consensus is that this will be a good value for what I''m able to spend ($5500 - $6200).

Thanks!

If you want to link to a pic on the internet, go to the page, right click the address in the white bar (it should turn blue). Then, from your toolbar, click "edit", then "copy". Come back to this page & click "reply". Once your cursor is in the body of the message, you click "edit" from your toolbar, and then "paste". You should see the address now on the screen. Sorry I can't comment on the stone as I am not a "Pro". Would like to see the pic though!

Hiya Steve. Very good numbers and a great price.

Buy it with confidence if you like the look.

By the way, who's assigning the grade?

Grading lab is GIA.

Also found this one - and it's about the same price. Any preference?

This one will look a little bigger I think, and gives better HCA results. The inclusion worries me a little tho. . .

I wouldn't be worried about the inclusions. Both SI1's look fine, although I tend to favor the first one just slightly over the second.

It's a tough call. The VS1 is nice opposed to the SI1, but then again the ideal/ideal is nice as opposed to the very good/very good, as well as the slightly bigger diameter on the SI1 and the better HCA results.

My gut tells me the visual impact is going to be nicer on the SI1, while the "psychological" and "value" impact is a little better with the VS1. You know what I mean? The VS1 looks good "on paper", while the SI1 is probably going to edge it out in the "real world".

If that's the case, I'd go for the stone with the greater visual impact.

Thanks for the advice - I'm leaning toward the first SI1 as well. I'm trying hard to focus on the "real world" - I usually get caught up in stats. A decision is imminent. . .

How about this stone?

http://www.niceice.com/certcopies/1201gsi2_ags3014106/index.htm

It rates a 1.4 TIC on HCA. It will be icy white, close H&A, bigger and cheaper.

I think having good cut and color are good for guys' mojo - but fiances, without having done the research, are going to notice SIZE before anything else. I have never heard any women ask, "Wow! what color was that one???" Size first, everything else second.

Plus I am enamored with the fluoresence on mine. Just MHO. Good luck!
