Help Evaluating a Diamond

Hi All,

I'm considering this:
https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3833691.htm
1.014 G VS2 ACA
(looking for ACA, >1 carat, >H, >VS2, <$8000)

How would you pros evaluate this diamond? To my very novice eyes, the ASET/IS looks good especially when compared to similar ACA's within the $7-8k price range. (comparison - https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/compare.aspx?idnos=3793582,3833691,3833705,3857539,3816375)

I am a little hesitant for 2 reasons:
1) The AGS shows a very large cloud right in the middle of the diamond. In fact, I've never seen anything that big in my very limited experience. But again, between the eye clean/VS2, ASET/IS, and ACA cut, is this a cloud an issue?
2) I know the HCA is a eliminator tool but this diamond comes up at a 0.7 (not between 1-2 for rings) and lies outside the white line for the graph (outside of AGS000). That is a bit concerning to me but it may be because I'm putting too much emphasis on that tool and should be putting more emphasis on WF's specs and ACA rating.

Thanks for help.

Keep Under Consideration

Both diamonds have near identical performance, ASET and IS images -- pretty much as expected from ACA. Looking at the videos, I'd say the inclusions are of a similar dispersed type and what I usually look for over black dots (my personal bias). I would ask the WF gemologist (not Sales Associate) to review each of these and provide you with their preference.

Not my favorite

{inclusion off the edge of the table is more visible than the two above}

{inclusions are more dense and visible than two above}

Alternative to Consider
https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3880973.htm {[email protected] mm, in budget and perfect clarity. I tend to drop color to I or J for super-ideal as they don't show color as much as others IMHO}

You can ask the WF gemologist to show you the side view of my "Alternative to Consider" to their preferred of the "Keep Under Consideration" and see how you feel.

The HCA is not relevant to super-ideals. HCA is used to weed out stones that have unfavorable angles to narrow the field to within GIAXXX standards of cut angles. But, anytime you have performance data (ASET, IS, etc.) that is what you look at. We use HCA to try and narrow the field to the liekly good performers along with our eyes, video and photos. Its just one tool. Rely on the ASET and IS here.
