Hello PS’ers!
Long-time lurker, first-time poster here (I’m keyboard -shy
).
I learned a lot researching and reading on this forum when we bought my Princess cut diamond back in 2008 (I had RB diamonds previously and wanted something different). I had intended to come back and write up a report, but so much happened that year (bought a new house, had a destination wedding, affected by a hurricane, etc.). I have to say that, I thought I was a perfectionist before, but after reading up on PS, I became so much more OCD when it came to diamond selection. The wealth of knowledge and resources helped me choose my perfect, as ideal as can be stone.
It was very tough to find a well-cut 1.5 Ct. E-VS1 or higher grade at the time. I really thought that was going to be my forever ring….BUT…
DH has been pushing me to upsize for our 10-year anniversary (last year) and before that, a “push present” for a few years now, so I’ve been finally considering. But only if I can find a diamond I love better than the one I have which is actually a very tall order. Basically, I'm looking for the same exact diamond, but just in a larger size.
We’ve been calling and scouring the Internet for months now (since Jan.). I didn’t know that 11 years later, it would still be this difficult finding a well-cut Princess cut, perfectly square diamond, especially one that was 3+ Ct. and D or E color (I'm very color sensitive) with no or faint fluorescence.
I finally came across one that I like on paper (with the exception of the slightly larger table, which is what made me a bit hesitant), and have run the numbers through the AGA cut calculator and got the following results (in comparison, my current diamond is 1A throughout):
Many thanks for reading!
