I'm not as informed as I believe I should be so advice or hints would be helpful. Today I viewed a EGL certified cushion cut diamond 1.20 J VS2 I chose this over a VS1 it's looked better to me. On paper it's listed as 6.27-5.75 x 4.17. Any input it looked beautiful to me but now I'm not sure after doing some reading. I clearly wasn't as informed as I thought i was.

TIA

EGL grades a little looser than GIA. I think EGL-USA is the strictest of the EGLs, so if your stone is graded by EGL-USA, it might be only a grade off. The other EGLs could be a grade or 2 lower in clarity and color. It could still be a really nice stone, but it may not be as white as a GIA-graded J stone. How much did you pay for the stone? Would you be able to return it or exchange it with the vendor for a GIA or AGS graded stone?

From what I've read on this forum, it's hard for others to judge a cushion without ASET and pictures.

The stone and setting came out to a total of 6,900... The other stone which was the same size and color but was a VS1 was 6,800. These are the prices for the whole ring. ( stone, micropave platinum setting).

Interesting that a stone that was the same size and color but a higher clarity would be cheaper than your VS2. Anyway, I can't figure out how much the setting costs independent of the ring (there aren't prices anywhere on their website) so I can't tell you if you got a good deal on the stone or not. I think that if you love how the ring looks, a $7K ring doesn't seem like a bad deal to me.

Need a photo at least.

Thanks for the help :-)
I decided I am not going to stress over this any longer! Me and SO both looked at the stone and ended picking the same one, it just sparkled more. Hopefully he won't torture me for long, when I finally get it ill make sure to post a picture. Till then fingers crossed!
