Thanks again everyone! I really appreciate your opinions and at least I know I am not nuts to at least consider bigger side stones. I am still torn, so I sent an email to Steven today. He said ERD had a few bigger options and is fine with me considering them. Hopefully, I can get pictures of the bigger side stones in the next few days...

It would be easiest to just pick the first pair, because I am dying to get this ring and see the diamond again! But, for the investment, I just want to make sure I will be happy with it!

Good for you - I think you'll be happier in the long run knowing you did investigate other options. May turn out that this pair is the perfect match, but if your initial reaction wasn't stellar, then looking further is the best thing to do.

I'm glad you did not feel SK felt upset with you (I know you were nervous about that!) but shows that he wants you to be as thrilled as possible with your new ring, and that's great to know that ERD did have some alternatives!!

Hopefully you can post the pics, if he sends you some, and maybe PS can help you pick. (Must be mindful of your budget tho, unless you have endless deep pockets!! Teehee!!!!)

For what it's worth, I really like the pair he has chosen. The stones should compliment the center IMO - not compete with it. I also really like the shape of these pears.

How much larger are you considering?

Thanks for the additional feedback! I emailed Chris at ERD and he had returned his pear options, but he thinks he can get some quickly to compare to that are a bit bigger...I asked for approximately 1.1 total carat weight. It isn't that I don't like the current layout so much... It is so hard for me to visualize the final ring! I have looked at a ring with .80 total carat weight and it looked too dainty to me, so that is my biggest concern with this pair.

MissGotRocks - BTW - I checked out your ring today and I absolutely love it! I also considered going all rounds too! But, I think I will be happy with pears, whether it is this pair or maybe a bit bigger!

Well, for what it's worth, Tiffany put .85ctw pears with a 4.08 ct center diamond and they usually have very good proportions in their rings:

Diamondseeker2006 - Thanks for attaching the link with the 4 ct round with .85 pears (holy price tag!) . Now I am confused, because I think these look good in the picture with a much larger diamond! It's the ring that I saw in person that is throwing me off. Maybe I will go try to see it again today, but I feel bad going to the jeweler since I know I am not buying from them!

Trust me, i understand as I am also trying to decide on a setting and it is about to drive me nuts! It is easier to give an opinion when the ring isn't our own! I think the stones Steven found are perfect, really. They will be larger in proportion to your stone than the Tiffany one.
