I am going to propose in the near future. My future wife knows about this not the when and where but she is involved in the design process.

The problem is we have completely different styles that we like. I prefer a classic Tiffany style. Just a plain band with the focus on one quality diamond. She like rings that are more intricate or busy. She likes halos, and really like the bands to have twists and small diamonds on the band. We don't know what it is called that style. It's not tacori. I showed her those and she wasn't impressed. I think the style might just be called the twist. Basically it's two thin bands that intertwine.

She also likes white gold where I like yellow or rose. But don't even get me started on why and how much I like yellow.

Sink have a tendency to pick things or design things that I like instead of what she like. This is actually our second go at marriage. I only bring this up because the first time I got her a ring called
Debeers "secrets of the rose" untamed for her ring. She wanted a more classic engagement ring.

I'm going to get this ring made custom where I bring a sketch to my jeweler and they work with me to make a wax mold.

So help me find some ideas to show to her that she can pick from. We have looked online but haven't found anything that blows get away.

For details we have it narrowed down to marquise, princess or round. Approximately 1-1.25 carat, and low profile preferred. Cost isn't really an issue since we already have a couple of diamonds we like picked out, the jeweler has a set cost for the design and the only other cost is the gold. Let your creativity flow!

Do any of you have a ring that you want to show that fits my criteria? Or have any links to rings that you think she might like? Thanks a lot.

The ring is a gift for her. And she is the one that is going to be wearing it for the rest of her life.

Pesonally I would advise you to keep your design tastes out of the process. This isn't about you. It's about her.

When it's time for you to get your wedding band, you can get anything you want. Yellow gold. Whatever.

But again, this is for her. A GIFT. You need to keep your design influences to a minimum, as they seem counter to her desires.

Does she like any of these:

Please take Gypsy's advice. She is wearing the ring. She is the ONLY one who needs to love HER ring,

How about some compromises? Either swirly yellow gold or platinum solitaire?

Have you looked into unplated white gold? Engraving?

I think it's time for both of you to look at more designs. Since you said she tends to cave to your likes, it seems more fruitful for her to look into ones she likes and you to get an idea from those. Once you've narrowed down a style, if you post here, some posters can recommend jewelers.

Here is the unplated white gold (some jewelers will have differing amounts of yellow in their unplated white gold)

I agree. Her input. Not mine. That's what I was trying to say, I'm going to learn from the past where I got what I liked instead of what she liked. I'll show her the ideas. Keep them coming. They are good!

Can you show her these and let us know what she prefers? It would help us figure out what direction to go to.

Re: Help designing an engagement ring. Marquise, princ. or

. She likes these three the best so far. We have also ruled out the princess cut completely. So it's between the round and the marquise.

Thanks for the advice about letting her pick completely. I read you guys posts and she said you were very smart. :). So thanks.

Here is also her current ring. It will be work on her other hand.

Right sorry. Still learning how to post photos. So that mounting is the favorite. Here is a marquis.

I love that marquise ring. Very pretty. It looks kind of rose cut?

I agree. It's a lovely stone. I think the shank is too thin on the setting though.

Looks like your lady likes pave.

Have your lady look through this designers settings:

I would not have another jeweler copy these though. I would just order from the designer. They have excellent quality.

Re: Help designing an engagement ring. Marquise, princ. or

She does love pave!

Oh no no. I wouldn't have my designer copy anything. If you show me something she loves I will of course order it from the designer in the link.

I'm going to go show her this next round.

I like the marquise too. So far everyone likes that one. She picked it out. I'll have to ask her where from.
