I was wondering if someone could help me or give guidance to picking a stone.

I have to choose btwn a 1.29 round H coulour Si1 clarity with only 2 inclusions which are not in the table..there are on the other facets and you can hardly see them. The diamond is also a hearts and arrows cut. and all other props are ''very good''. it comes with a HRD certificate. It comes in at about 9500US
The other option is also a round 1.27 H colour as well, but VS1 with 1 inclusiom. The symmetry ,polish are very good. It has a HRD certificate. It comes in at about 11500US. Whats really the difference in clarity? Is it really worth the extra money? what do you suggest especialy if I had a budget of 10000US. pls help

Hi welcome to Pricescope! What is the cut grade on the 2 you listed?

Hi,

I'm not an expert, but maybe you can provide some add'l information, some of them can chime in. Can your vendor provide the depth/table/crown angle/pavillion angle? If so, you can use the HCA https://www.pricescope.com/cutadviser.asp and see how they compare.

I hadn't heard of HRD, so I looked it up and found this thread https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/hrd-vs-gia.2840/

Looks like they are not necessarily less reliable, just different than GIA and AGS. I don't know how they grade for cut, but you need that info as well.

Based only on the info provided, and if the 1.29 is eyeclean, I'd say it's a better deal, but you should definitely obtain the measurements and cut grade so that you can make a more informed decision.

Hi amk,

Are these with a local dealer, so you can look at them? If so, have you spent time and compared them?

Very Good cut is the highest grade HRD gives I believe, and I see Sym and Pol get those. Is that the cut grade also? I know you mentioned H&A on the first, but that wouldn't be the cut grade.

As for the clarity, it's what you can see, or not, and are comfortable with. Some people don't mind seeing an inclusion, it's like their stones own little "birthmark", and obviously they enjoy some savings too. Others don't want to see anything, and are willing to pay more. There isn't a right or wrong choice here, it's simply what you want/don't mind.
