I do not know where to begin but I am glad i found this website because I have learned a whole lot. Ive seen alot of "Leo or not" posts and I think most of the time people are advised to find a better diamond online for the same price. So here is my situation and I hope you guys can help me out:

Before finding this site, I went to where every newb goes, the mall. I went to Kay and got help from someone. I really liked a one ring''s setting but I didnt like the fact that the diamonds werent certified or anything so he showed me the leo diamonds. He told me that what he can do is have his jeweler take the leo diamond and place it in the setting I liked.

So I purchased the whole setting for 1700 because it was onsale that day, and he told me to come back on May1st because I can get 10% off the Leo diamond, I put 20 bucks down to hold the Leo. My total cost was going to be around $4700 which is great because 1700 is on a kay account which i dont pay interest on for a year. So thats taking away the ygold setting and the center diamond on the wgold setting and putting in the leo on the wgold setting.
I can go up to around 5000. I was just using the kay account to take advantage of the no interest thing.

I went to the first vendor lis located at this site.
There are alot of diamonds to choose from! and awesome prices! I get very confused when it comes to the measuremeants and percentages. Hopefully you guys can help me make the best choice. Here are the links of all my choices:

You might want to check out GoodOldGold.com to compare diamond prices. They have actual photos of the diamond you would be buying. They have already done all the homework on the diamonds they offer. Since you already purchased a setting, you could send it to GoodOldGold and let them mount the diamond. Their diamonds are great and if you are stuck deciding between several diamonds, Jonathan will make you a short video comparing them. They are ultra helpful.

Thanks for the link. I read that post earlier. From what I read, the lady sounded unhappy and "embarrassed?" (please correct me if I am wrong). That is the reason why I decided to walk away from the Leo. Also I was planning on returning the setting and just buying the whole ring from one of the websites I linked. I’m going to finish looking at all the websites tonight including goodoldgold.com
I understand you guys must get a million people asking all the time, "are these diamonds ok?" so I appreciate the help.

I think this is a good move. If you don''t see a setting you like while browsing, just send a picture of the Kay setting to the reps (GOG, WF, Wink, etc) and they will be able to help you track something down.

For $1700 I am willing to bet you will be able to find a setting that you are wild about (probably in plat too)
 
Well thats the price of the setting with the original diamond. I was supposed to go back so that they can put the Leo diamond and I would get a credit for the original diamond. Either way I don''t think I will be getting anything from kay.

This is very difficult for me. I get confused when it comes to the measurements and percentages. To me it seems like the bottom diamonds are better in terms of the measurements. What do you guys think about these diamonds, you can click on diamond details to go to the site:

The third link opens to a 2.31 ct. emerald cut priced at $24,000.00. I don''t think you are considering that one! It looks like the first and second diamonds are very similar, but the price is better on the White Flash one, so I would probably go with that one. Hopefully others who are better at this than me will jump in. I''m not real familiar with optimal depth/table numbers on princess cuts. That is just my opinion without seeing the actual diamonds.

The third diamond you listed says it is only a "good" cut. I would avoid that and stay with very good or excellent/ideal cut. You are going to get a much prettier diamond with good light return that way. Cut is king!
 
thats strange, i just tested the links and it went to the described princess cuts that I have been looking at, all under $5000 except for the 3rd link which went to a different princess cut. i will edit the post. im leaning towards the second choice but i would like some more input because im scared. thanks again everendingupgrade, ill remember cut is king.

This is just my opinion, for what it is worth, but I would rather have the H/VS2 diamond for one reason alone: It is an AGS ideal cut, with ideal polish and symmetry, as opposed to the Blue Nile diamond which is graded as only a Good cut. Personally I would never go below a Very Good cut. Even though the first diamond is a D color, the cut on the H is so superior, that the diamond will have much better light return and look much whiter than an H. You are only looking at a $167 difference.

I may be way off here; I am not an expert. But I bought an H/SI1 in a great cut, and the light return is fantastic. It looks like the White Flash diamond is nice for the price, but I can''t tell anything about the cut quality.

based on what you have told me, i am going for h instead of f in clarity and si1 to vs2 in clarity. I'm gonna try to keep it very close to 4000. i found this but it says it has a very small culet and medium to extremely think girdle. i wish they can be more precise in their description.

Seriously, you can save yourself some stress and time if you limit your search to princess stones that are AGS0 or at least meet those parameters. Use this search tool and set it to princess with the size, color, and clarity range you prefer. I see several 1 ct. stones come up from Good Old Gold and WhiteFlash. These are in-house stones and we can see the photos and other info on the stones. Just so you know, I have bought from both vendors and both are excellent. Many of the online vendors just have virtual stone listings from various suppliers but they do not have photos on the stones for you. WF and GOG have other testing that shows light performance, etc. I would avoid stones that have very thin or extremely thin girdles, though.

AGS0 just takes all the hard work out of it. But vendors such as GOG also pick GIA stones that meet AGS0 qualifications. They have AGS software and can evaluate light performance. The key is to buy a stone that an expert has already screened! But I'd probably just choose AGS0 to know I was getting the top of the line princess!
 
Cisco, I'm not really sure if you're asking me where I got my ring, (I am assuming it is me because your response is right under my post--if not, please ignore this). I got my diamond from Good Old Gold and my Tacori wedding set from Collections Fine Jewelry, a brick and mortar store (1-800-779-3207).

Going down to an H/SI1 is a smart move. I was only using the VS2 diamonds as a comparison to show the difference between the cut qualities.
