Hello,

So I'm looking for a diamond in this range 0.6-0.7, >VS2, D-F, and ideal cut

thoughts on these?
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/compare.aspx?idnos=3628052,3481326,3607947

Also for the setting,
I'm looking at Danhov's Per Lei collection http://www.danhov.com/per-lei-744 and going without pave to save some cost
Going to get one similar to this: http://www.danhov.com/per-lei-744/danhov-per-lei-single-shank-engagement-ring-le104
but with 1.5mm round shank and a bridge element close to this: http://i.imgur.com/EMFO5HQ.png

they quoted ~$3.5k for platinum but that seems kinda high. Is that reasonable price for some customization?

Also does Danhov typical give discounts when you buy engagement rings and wedding bands together?

Thanks for all the help!

Could you drop to a G color and get something slightly bigger, such as this?:

The Danhov settings are lovely but so pricey, I guess only you can know if you're comfortable spending more on the setting than the diamond. Whiteflash have them on their site but they do have other halo designs, have you had a look?

Thanks for the feedback! Yea, especially with such a small diamond, I guess inclusions and color doesn't play too much of a roll. I guess I get too caught up.

Ah, so Danhov is pricy. I guess if they have quality I don't mind paying for it. Just a little surprised.

Have you asked Whiteflash if they could do a custom ring based on the danhov and what the price would be?
I know the danhov quality is good but that's a lot of money for what you are getting.

What is your total budget for stone/setting? That would help us give advice.

Can you go a hearts on fire dealer and check out stones in the G-H color range and see what you think? In the size range you are looking those might be an option for you. Those would be the best comparison to the top lines at WF, BGD, or our other vendors. So it is best if you stick to Hearts on Fire for color evaluation. But keep your wallet. They are called "wallets on fire" for a reason! =)

I agree about asking WF for a custom setting quote is a smart idea.

For budget, upper limit is close to $7k but lower the better. As for custom, WF doesn't like to mimic designs too much from the vendors they sell from. I also want a ring with a band/shank that is 1.5mm or thinner which danhov does.

1.5 is VERY thin... I would rethink that part. :halo:

Is the $7K for the entire ring (setting and diamond) or just the diamond?

Ah, sorry for the confusion. Upper limit of $7k for ring + diamond. Her ring size is a size 4 and she wants a skinny band. Diamond doesn't have to be too big since it's a halo, small finger, and wants something on the minimal, smaller, elegant type.

Gotcha! Have you already found the halo setting she wants, or will you have it made to the specifications of the stone, once found?

No. Do not go for a shank that thin. It will warp. This is a ring that will be worn everyday. Structure matters a lot. We do not EVER recommend a shank thinner than 1.8 for an engagement ring with pave.
