I just bought MSOP04's Halo setting for an upgrade as my engagement ring. I'd like to reset my current diamond into a 5 stone RHR and be able to wear it as a giant wedding band occasionally also! My current stone is a .78 carats, D color, excellent cut round brilliant. I will post some inspiration pics that I have found on PS! I absolutely love Making the Grade's (hope I wrote that right) five stone ring! It is gorgeous and the side view is amazing.

I need help figuring out exactly what size stones to use in the ring. I want it to look pretty seamless like a band so not huge variations in the sizes but I do want it to have a graduated look. I wear a size 7 and I hate the look of a band where the diamonds don't completely cover the top of the finger so I'm also a little worried about making sure the sizes will create the look I want!

Also, I can't remember who's ring the last picture is! Hope it's okay to post it!

I think it best to work directly with a jeweler who can assess what size stones you will need to give full finger coverage in a 5 stone specific for you. They will take your .78 ct. into consideration and then plan for what the graduation should be down each side for the other 4 stones. This will be gorgeous. how exciting for you... to have a halo AND a 5 stone!!!

I think the same. Where are you going to source the other stones? I think a lot of vendors that do settings can help you. I would make note of the photos and what the specs are for scale, considering the carat weight- and mm size!

If you wear a ring like that next to any other ring it will act as a chain saw and destry the other ring

I’m planning to wear it alone... it will be a right hand ring.

It ought to be possible to get both the gradation of sizes and the span over the finger right, if not with five stones, then with seven.

Yes this is what I was wondering... it may be possible that I need 7 stones. I’ve never created anything custom before like this so I just want to make sure it turns out perfect!!

The smallest stones end up almost between the fingers & no more than 0.2 cts each; I would want to play with diamonds IRL for the gradation, if at all possible.

Yeah I’m undecided on whether to go with my local jeweler who I really like but haven’t seen custom work from or someone online whose work I’ve seen over and over.

In my short time on PS I’d say for custom I would work with one of the preferred vendors on here. My ER from my last marriage was custom made and while I enjoyed working with my local jeweler the benchwork I’ve seen on PS is unmatched.

Edit to add: a 5 stone ring with rounds will look beautiful! GL on the exciting journey.

I'd guess that the local shop can let you play with diamonds to some reasonable extent [the stones will be in a box, not pegged to your finger in position until there is a wax carved], the remote shop can send pictures of stones lined up, then send the wax for you to try on. I would let the local shop learn how to make such rings on the occasion of this order, if there is reasonable understanding on what trial & error costs whom; this might be a larger project.

Valid point. And who doesn’t love looking at an array of diamonds.

I have a handful of length threads about making a 5 stone with a 6mm center stone

This was a 7.25

Awesome!! I will definitely check those threads out. I’m sure I’ve already seen them but it’s hard to keep up with them all. I’ve started saving them!

Oh yeah... I meant I could wear it on my left hand alone as a big wedding band sometimes. I wouldn’t wear with E-Ring!
