I recently got engaged in November to my amazing fiancé. I picked my ring pretty much beforehand and am now worried I made a mistake and want to change it.

Specs
1.89 round brilliant
5.5 ring size
Three row pave shank that is around 2mm
Shank is made from a mold while the basket is custom

My concerns are that my almost two carat stone doesn't look very large next to the band and that a single row pave band that is custom and 1.45mm would allow the stone to shine more. My concern is that I will miss the adde sparkle of the three row ring and still be unhappy!

Your diamond looks perfectly large in comparison to your setting band. I think what you want to switch to may be much less structurally sound. Keep that big rock safe.

I think your diamond looks great with your band. Of course you should get what makes you happy.

1.4 will not be structurally sound. We have threads on this before, and I believe a minimum of 1.8mm is recommended for pave. Your three row pave ring does look wider than 2mm to me, though. However, I don't think it makes the diamond look small.

I wouldn't go down to 1.4 but maybe just a tad slimmer than you have now...

I personally prefer the thinner look also, as long as it's still structurally sound. You've waited a few months to get used to the ring and you're still not happy with the setting so get the thin setting you love!

Do you think it will make the stone look larger? Let me know if anyone had a chance to check out the Leon mege setting I linked! Thank you all for the feedback- it is really nice to hear honest opinions!

I think your diamond looks very large :) I would not go thinner than 2 mm...you want the ring to be structurally sound. I would just enjoy it for what it is! it is a beautiful ring!

Before you seriously consider a reset, go wedding band shopping first. See if your opinion on your current ring changes after wedding band shopping. You'd be surprised how a beautiful wedding band changes the look of an engagement ring! Also, my 2 cents is your diamond looks huge and your band is beautiful. Good luck!

Yes, a thinner band will make your diamond appear larger. I do have to say that your diamond is already big!!

IMO, your ring looks beautiful as is (but that's me, an observer and you are the owner...) It looks to be well proportioned and I think the width of the band (Not WIDE by any means!!) will be structurally more secure than going lower - as mentioned above.

If you are not happy, spend some time w the jeweller you purchased from and try on a few others - could it be that the doubt you are feeling just needs confirmation by re examining your options?

Do what you feel is best, but it sure looks good on your hand/diamond looks VERY LARGE!/and it looks proportioned and safe in that setting. :))
