Hi there I'm new to this forum and came across it when doing some research on lab grown diamonds. I could really use some help as I'm comparing 3 diamonds and don't have much experience with gems. I am considering 3 round lab grown diamonds from 3 different wholesalers. I've seen all 3 and they all look sparkly and eye clean so it's hard to tell which is best, here are the specs (all have excellent polish/symmetry, prices are in Canadian dollars):

1) 1.21 carat, color: F, Clarity SI1, Cut: ideal, measurements: 6.85-6.89-4.18, table: 58%, crown: 34.5°, pavilion: 40.6°, depth: 60.8% HPHT grown, price $3500 CAD
2) 1.20 carat. color: G, Clarity: SI1, Cut ideal, measurements: 6.85-6.87-4.20, table: 57%, crown: 35.5°, pavilion 40.9°, depth: 61.3% CVD grown, price $3500 CAD
3) 1.27 carat, color: H, Clarity SI1, Cut: ideal, measurements: 7.07-7.11-4.23, table 55.5%. crown 33.8°, pavilion 40.2°, depth: 59.6% CVD grown, $3200 CAD

All are IGI certified. Per the IGI reports #1 has multiple inclusions on the table and #2 has no inclusions on the table and comes with an IGI hearts and arrows report.

I am also not sure if HPHT or CVD grown labs are best. I've heard conflicting things like HPHT have a bluish hue. Any help you can provide would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Thanks in advance.

Some past discussion here. Be advised, it's gets a bit nerdy by page two. #owningit

Angles on number 1 look like they'll do well in the HCA tool (and therefore give good light performance).

Angles on number two look a touch steep/deep but might be acceptable (a score of 2-3 on HCA, maybe??)

Number 3 looks shallow compared to the usual ranges recommended on Pricescope - I think it might fare badly in HCA and suffer leakage in 'real life'.

Don't forget to look on the vendors' sites listed in the 'List of MMD vendors' thread in this part of the forum - you can compare prices and quality to those offered locally.

Be cautious - no 'wholesaler' sells to the public, so that is a 'red flag' that they might not be working in your best interests.

That’s weird. I guess I didn’t add the link before. “here” meant here.:cool2:

So which one did you choose?

Pricing seems ok, if it is from a wholesaler, but it is most likely an HPHT. HPHT is said to contain small metal parts from the production process. Wont be visible by the naked eye but could influence testing.
CVD is cleaner and of higher quality.
