Hello everyone,

I am in the market for an engagement ring and have two contenders that I am hoping to get some Pricescope community feedback on. Both are loose round diamonds that I plan on setting in a Tiffany style solitaire setting.

Diamond #1 - $4,750 (loose diamond, no setting)
1.03 carat
6.55 - 6.61 x 3.97 mm
Cut: Excellent
Color: H
Clarity: SI1
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Fluorescence: None

Diamond #2 - $4,100 (loose diamond, no setting)
1.08 carat
6.58 - 6.60 x 4.06 mm
Cut: Excellent
Color: I
Clarity: SI2
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Fluorescence: None

Both diamonds looked eyeclean to me and the jeweler who is a Pricescope vendor asserted the same. I have ASET and Idealscope images of both to look at and will post those as replies to this message. The first image in this post is an ASET image of the 1.03 carat stone. Any feedback on the value proposition for these comparatively and against the market in general?

Here''s the 1.03 idealscope image.

Here''s the 1.08 ASET image.

And here''s the 1.08 Idealscope image. Thanks for any feedback!

For the first few minutes this thread was up I accidentally had the prices switched on the two stones. Now fixed!

the 1.03 is showing some obstruction issues..?

I prefer the second from the images.

The painting and the shallow proportions of the first is not a good combination.
But the price quality between I>H and SI2>SI1 is a big issue. That is probably an eye clean SI2, but I would prefer one with an eye visible coverable (with prong) inclusion. Seems like a lot there.

Is this it for the choice?

If the 1st stone is for a ring then my cooment is my opinion - but if it was for a pendant then it would probably be very effective.

Second for me

Thanks for the feedback!

Can you elaborate a bit on that? Are you speaking comparatively between the two or in absolute terms? Still very new at this! These two are not necessarily the only two. I looked at stones elsewhere but this was the only place where I got idealscope and ASET images. For the others all I saw were GIA certificates and the stones with my eyes and through a loupe,

I also prefer the second diamond.

What do people think of the price for the I/SI2 1.08? I played with the pricescope price search and my initial impression is that the price is a little high...

Is it an H&A diamond? I am guessing not since you did not post hearts images.

Yup, I too thought the price was high. BUT and eye clean SI2 will cost more than one with eye visible inclusions, so it is hard to make the comparison apples for appleas using that search function.

I did a little search and at WF you would pay about 1-1.5k more for H SI2 or I SI1 in that size or a teensy bit bigger. Same at BGD and GOG. But those are H&A diamonds from vendors with excellent upgrade policies. Not sure where you contenter is from so can''t speak to that from them.
