Okay, so my boyfriend and I went ring shopping this week. I had my heart set on a round solitaire and then this jeweler convinced me to try on this cushion brilliant cut. It's measurements are:

6.97x 6.78 x 5.17 MM
weight 1.99 ct
Color: Nearly colorless H
Clarity: I1
Polish/symmetry: very good
treatment: None

Now, this ring would cost $8,999.00 and I convinced him to throw in a paved 1/2 carat band with that. I was just seeing if this was a bad price? I know the clarity is graded bad, but I didn't see anythign with my naked eye. I did see it under the microscope though. There was 1 tiny carbon spot and 1 bubble. I personally didn't see it though and I am not sure if it's because jewelry stores are always dark. I just would like any information/advice anyone could give since this is a big purchase for us. Thank you in advance. I truly appreciate it!

Good idea to post questions before making your purchase. :wavey: Hopefully some other PSers will chime in soon, but in the meantime Is this a GIA or certed stone? Did the jeweler say it was eyeclean and from how far away? Do you have photos/video of it? Is it loose or already set because you didn't mention whether the setting was included in the price or not? This is a large amount of money to spend without further research and info.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to me! The jeweler didn't say anything about the clarity. I took the diamond and looked with his tool (sorry I don't know the technical term) and saw the inclusion myself. I didn't see it when I looked at it just with my eyes, but the store had very bad lighting to be honest. I had him clean it though and it did shine which I liked. It is already set but in a plain band. He told me that he could reset it in a 1/2 carat band with diamonds on the sides like I like. I have attached some pictures. It is GSI certified and I have only heard of GIA so I am not sure if that makes a difference.

No problem. I think everyone here wants to see you get the best stone for your budget. I haven't ever heard of this lab so did a search. Most sites listed this lab as one that grades stones for Wal-mart, Kay, Shane & Co, etc. I would personally stick to AGS or GIA if I were spending several thousand dollars. I would be concerned about the clarity, color and performance of the stone with the GSI cert. I think you can do much better. You have a great budget so I would start my search over with the help of some of our very knowledgable PSers. :wavey:
