Hey everyone

Thanks for your insight and sharing your deep knowledge on all things diamond on my other post.
As a background, i am based in Sydney and looking for a solitaire ring.
1. Min 1ct round brilliant diamond
2. Was Recommended to go with WF ACA as not viable to physically inspect or return
3. F-G, max VS2 as want to stay safe limit unless can get a sure eye clean SI
4. Budget $12k-$13k AUD including setting which is roughly $10k USD

As my fellow Aussies chimed in, finding it hard to source such diamonds locally. After much difficulty, a local jeweller could come up with just three.
1. Is any worth considering?
2. If not Any recommendations for a diamond from WF ACA that will fit this budget.
3. Is it worth getting from WF considering 10%gst i will pay when importing plus ongoing maintenance ie quality vs cost.

Thank you.

Prices are in AUD.

#1, the D VS1 is an excellent stone and value. The price is affected by the fluorescence, which I consider kind of wonderful! Fluorescence is almost never a problem in high clarity stones, and you never know it's there unless you shine a UV light on the diamond. But it's a beautiful natural phenomenon, and I prefer it when I have the option!

I did not care for the primary feather inclusion in the E SI1, and I didn't like the pavilion angle in the F VS2. I would not choose either of those. But everything looks great on the D VS1.

I have to run out for a bit, and then I will show you options from Whiteflash!

I really like the second one, the 1.01 F VS2. Clean inclusion plot and good proportions. I think that would still be under $13k AUD with import taxes.

@diamondseeker2006, thank you very much for your input. I will take a look at 3 options you have provided.

You already mentioned fluoro is not an issue, how/when do we see its impact?

PS Experts, please chime in with your thoughts on 3 diamonds i posted initially or/and fluoro.
Appreciate your inputs.

Fluorescence is usually not an issue, but strong fluorescence in a colorless diamond can sometimes cause a milky appearance in lights with high levels of UV (like direct sunlight). It's a small percentage of stones, but it could happen. The best think would be to ask the vendor about the effect of fluorescence in this particular diamond.

Flour can cause a stone of any color too look hazy, oily, milky...terms vary. It's very rare and I've only seen it in a few cases. We have a gemologist check to be sure you are not the rare case. Flour in the right light is more visible in high colors as there is less body color to neutralize it.It tends to result in less cost per carat in high colors. It can lift the perception of lower color if the diamond has a yellow body color (vs brown or grey)...if you stand in strong UV all the time. Mostly, it's a cool party trick.

Thanks everyone.
How do these three diamonds compare.

This has strong blue fluoroscence but i have checked and this is what they had to say:

This diamond has not been affected and I have had the diamond examined, it is full of fire and luster.

Appreciate your inputs.
Thank you.

Not even close. The WF 1.01 F beats that other stone by a mile. The other one you posted has poor symmetry and leakage under the table, and I can almost guarantee the WF stone will have much better light return. Plus the WF diamond is over $1,000 cheaper!

Thank you. Sorry, didn’t realise about the price. Should clarify the price for D VS1 is in AUD which is equivalent to roughly 8,500 USD.

I'm going to post a few super-ideal that meet your brief. I personally slightly prefer HighPerformanceDiamonds, but there are just as many who speak passionately about Whiteflash and Victor Canera. They are all super-ideal vendors. All have a very generous tradeup policy, HPD offers an 80% buyback and VC a 70%.

Since you set G as your lowest clarity, I would not lose size for F color.

Eyeclean SI1 that gets you a big discount.

Options if you drop to H.

**I would choose this one given the lower cost (and the inevitable taxes you will pay). But, any of these will be gorgeous.

What kind of setting are you looking at? That might help direct which vendor.

Thanks @rockysalamander. My wife prefers to have a look at setting so just pushing my local jeweller if he can source ideal diamonds.

Good luck. HPD might have a retailer near you. Where are you?

Unfortunately Sydney (Australia). Beautiful place if you love your beaches but not so for ideal diamonds apparently.
