Which channel set wedding band should I choose to go with my e-ring?

Hi everyone,

I recently got a new engagement ring and I absolutely love it. It's 2.01ct, I, eyeclean Si2, GIA XXX set in a very simple cathedral solitaire setting.
I'm now at the stage of choosing wedding bands to go with it. I would like to get a channel set band but can't decide between two of them.
I can't decide whether the 2nd bigger ring takes away from the solitaire or if in fact they look great together? Would I be better going for the smaller WB, so that the solitaire is the star of the show?
My fiancé says he can't really tell the difference and doesn't have an opinion one way or the other! ;-) But I'm sure some of you P-Sers will be able to steer me in the right direction. Thank you very much in advance!! :-)
FIRST OPTION:
First is 2.6mm wide channel set half eternity, tcw 0.33 carats.
Smaller 0.33tcw WB.JPG smaller.JPG
SECOND OPTION:
The second is slightly larger ring overall - 3mm wide also channel set half eternity, tcw 0.5 carats.
Larger 0.5tcw WB.JPG Larger.JPG

I'm no alumni, but I much prefer the second.

They look very similar in width so not a huge difference but I prefer the first option. Though it is hard to say definitively from the photos. Could you share different perspective shots i.e. profile and other views so we can share a more accurate opinion.

Also, what is the width of your ER? I would choose the one closest to the ER width.

I think both bands look beautiful with your gorgeous ER so you really cannot go wrong with either choice. Congratulations!

I like the second option better! It compliments your ering!

Thanks so much for your opinions.

@missy The engagement ring width is approx. 2.4mm underneath, tapering to approx. 2mm at the top.

I only have limited photos as it's just what I took in the jewelers shop. I have attached a couple more of the side of both :-) I am veering towards option 1 as I think perhaps the diamonds in the 2nd one are a teeny bit large. I don't want the overall effect to be OTT for everyday wear...

1st - Smaller 0.33tcw 2.6mm band:

2nd - Larger 0.50 tcw 3mm band

From that angle I prefer the first.

It is probably a matter of choice but I read on here recently that an eternity/wedding band can safely have half the carat weight of the solitaire visible and not overshadow it.

Thanks for the extra photos. I have to say it is a close decision. I really like both of them very much. But for me the first one edges out the second choice just slightly though I absolutely can see the appeal of both. I am the lone vote for choice one but again you cannot go wrong with either as they both look lovely with your ER!

I prefer the second one :D

I vote for the first one.

They both look nice but I prefer the first one - I think the width is slightly better for your ring than the second one

I like the first better. The second looks a little too thick for my liking

Both look great, but I think you can easly go with the 3mm without it being too much! So I'd choose the second one!

Thanks so much everyone, it's so helpful hearing all your opinions!! :-D

I really like the first one! It looks more fluid and compliments your ering IMO.

They are both pretty, but I definitely prefer the second one. It does not overwhelm your beautiful e-ring and I just see more of the diamonds vs the metal. Also, DSS is real and why not go for slightly more bling now :)

I think either would work, depending on what you like... have you considered bead set instead of channel set?

Smaller width to match width of ering. Consider at least 3/4 eternity. The ring will turn and there will be lots of times you will see a plain band. That would bug me, but maybe not you. I didn't know t would bug me until I got A half eternity myself. Food for thought.

Thanks everyone you've all given me lots to Think about!=)2
@LLJsmom thanks for the advice, I will enquire about 3/4 eternity
@msp04 wasn't so keen on bead set when I tried them on, thanks for the suggestion though

Hi everyone, I had to make a decision today as we're getting married in 4 weeks and the ring will take 3 to make!! cutting it a bit close!!
Anyway I decided to go with Option 2 the larger 3mm 0.5tcw in the end.
I could see where some of you were coming from when you said Option 1 matched the width of my engagement ring better. I got nervous though that if I got the smaller ring I would get DSS and end up wishing I had got the blingier one!! (this happened with my engagement ring which got upgraded after 6 months, oops!!:shhh:)
Am hoping when it arrives that I don't think it's OTT or too blingy, but even if I do I'm sure that feeling will wear off in time!
Thanks again to everyone for all your opinions, much appreciated! =)2

Hi everyone, I thought I would show you all the final result since so many of you were really helpful in my decision!!
I got married last month, and this is my wedding set. I absolutely love it =)2:dance:

My engagement ring is an 2.01 I GIA XXX solitaire in a simple cathedral setting. The wedding band is a channel set band, set with 0.33pointers, 0.5tcw

Thank you!! And yes, I didn't realize until I started looking that I had such "classic" taste, but am so glad actually, as I know I will always like them
Was a bit unsure about the wedding band when I ordered it but now that I have it I love it!
