Hey everyone! I have a suite of 3 stones on their way to me from Ritani, and I plan on having DK create a 3 stone RHR for me.
Once upon a time, I worked with him for weeks perfecting a design that I poured over and put my heart and soul into. See my post history for that mess. Well, life happened and I never had it made. Since then I’ve gotten divorced, moved halfway across the country, and unexpectedly met an amazing man that adores me and my daughter. I’ll be turning 40 soon, and I figured what better way to treat myself and symbolize a new beginning, than to gift myself a past, present, future ring. The other part of me doesn’t want to necessarily be reminded of that past chapter of my life even though I’ve never been a superstitious person. I still love the design and tend to think it’s kind of a power move to just buy it for myself.
The stone sizes are much smaller than I originally anticipated when designing the ring. I’ve come to the realization that bigger is not always better and I’ve been drawn to more understated carat weights. The diamonds I’ll be using are .33/.77/.33 and since I’ll likely be using a 1ct center stone for my engagement ring, should that time come, I didn’t want the RHR to overshadow it in any way. Having said that, I’m worried my original design won’t translate well with the changes, and it will lack the open and airy look I’m going for. I want to allow light in, and I don’t want the details of the gallery to get lost. I asked DK for his opinion between two designs and I’m waiting to hear back.
I say all this to say…what advice and input can any experts give on either design? Maybe point out something I’m not thinking of, or just weighing in with an opinion as to one vs the other. Here’s the IG links for both; one belonged to a PSer and I believe has changed hands a couple times since then. If relevant, the setting will be yellow gold.
