Help Choose (Lotus ring with Pink Tourmaline)

I've fallen in love with the Lotus ring that many of you here own (Sally's rings from HeartofWaterJewels on Etsy):

Let me know what you'd pick! I think I'd like to go with yellow gold, or yellow gold basket, and sterling silver shank (to save on costs).

Depends on the size of the stone, but I''d probably go with a regular lotus and either a portuguese cut (large stone) or a regular cut (small stone). I think the lush lotus is a tad busy, whereas the regular lotus is simple and classic.

I agree with the highlighted part about choosing the cutting style. Ring style however, is obviously a matter of preference and depends on what you'd wear more (ornate or simpler).

I voted the lush with portuguese cut because the busier cut on a low RI stone like a tourmaline will give it extra sparkle and brilliance. As for the setting, I just thought a busy type cut goes well with a more embellished setting.

I think a bigger stone might work better with the lush, but a smaller one would look better in an original.

I would go with the Lush Portugese because it''s a tad bit differerent. Although IRL I''ve never seen someone wearing a lotus so unless your at a PS GTG your ring will be a stand out.

But I think the busier cutting style goes better with the Lush. HTH

Thank you all for the suggestions. I agree - the portuguese style is probably nicer with a bigger size, and it does flow well with the busier setting.

I still like the charm of the original lotus too. I wonder if it would also look good with opal...for some reason, I''m just not seeing opal in this setting.

I have the small regular lotus with a regular cut pink tourmaline and to be honest the stone is rather dull. Especially when I wear it stacked with my sparkletacular Barry peri pillbox.

I''d get the Portuguese cut for sure.

I think I like the original for smaller stones (mine is 5.5mm) but I might try the lush on a larger stone. And at some point I think a stone gets too big for a lotus at all. To me, the appeal is in the delicateness of the setting, which might be lost in larger sizes.

Caroleena, thank you for your kind comments. I think the Portugese cut will be beautiful and very sparkly since it has so many facets. It was a bit out of our budget at that time though! Blame it on the unfavorable exchange rates!

Anyway, I''m sorry to hear that someone actually receive a stone that lacked sparkle... Maybe you can talk to Sally and tell her exactly what kind of stone that you are looking for? In my experience working with her, she really listens to what customers have to say.

Now I am itching to go see what else Sally has put up on her Etsy store.
