Hi everyone

I have narrowed down my quest for the perfect diamond for my wedding proposal. As per below:

[A] 1.643 I VS1 1.4-EX ex-ex-ex-vg AGS0 H&A ACA US$12507 [THIS IS THE DIAMOND I RESERVED]
https://www.pricescope.com/origin.asp?sh=88&id=1803&prc=12507
Comment: WF adviser''s recommendation is that given ACA cut, I color would show face up very white, so cost saving is compelling.

1.591 G VS2 1.5-EX ex-ex-ex-vg AGS0 H&A ACA US$15371
https://www.pricescope.com/origin.asp?sh=88&id=1818&prc=15371

[C] 1.518 G VVS2 1.4-EX ex-ex-ex-vg AGS0 H&A ACA US$16886
https://www.pricescope.com/origin.asp?sh=88&id=1829&prc=16886

[D] 1.516 E VS2 1-EX ex-ex-ex-vg AGS0 H&A ACA US$16731
https://www.pricescope.com/origin.asp?sh=88&id=1828&prc=16731

Also, based on WF''s recommendation - setting chosen was Sleek Line Solitaire as this setting would prevent side viewing of the diamond so I colour for Diamond A is not an issue:

I''m willing to spend for a high quality ring (had a maximum budget of US$19.5k originally) but would like value for money (ie. I would not be willing to spend significantly more money for immaterial increases in performance) and since any cost savings is going to benefit both my future wife and I. My questions are:

1) Did I make the right choice in choosing A? Would A have a significantly lower performance in colour versus the other stones?

2) If A isn''t the right choice, which of the above would you choose instead (or suggest an alternative), and why?

3) Would another setting from WhiteFlash be more appropriate for this stone or other stone recommended? I wanted a simple elegant ring that showed off/emphasised the diamond and made it bigger, brighter, higher performance.

Would greatly appreciate some opinions from the experts in this forum.

Thanks in advance!

Ken

Ken, is there not an H color stone? You have an I and some G''s. I agree that there is no reason to go to E. But if you can afford better color than I color, I''d recommend going with G or H and VS clarity.

Hi ken,

That stone you reserved is gorgeous! I see absolutely nothing wrong with it, as long as the intended wearer isn't color sensitive. While well cut stones do not show as much color as poorly cut, at I, you may see a slight hint of warmth. However, there are numerous ladies on here with I and J's in much larger sizes and they are extremely happy with them.

So, if you can answer that question as to sensitivity with a no, you picked a winner.

I think the one you selected is gorgeous! Nicely done.

Between #1 and #2, only you can determine how comfortable you are with color. I''d have no problem with the I stone myself.

If you want peace of mind, have the I shipped to you to see it for yourself. Then you can decide if you are good with it or move up to the G.

Hi everyone

Thanks for your prompt and very helpful responses. After much consideration - I''m going to stick with the diamond I reserved - here are my thoughts:

1) I''m quite insistent on an ACA diamond as I understand the cut is extremely important and would compensate for colour and clarity

2) Unfortunately, WF isn''t stocking any H coloured diamonds currently and I need the ring by 11th April (planning to propose on her birthday!)

3) WF told me that to the untrained eye its extremely difficult to tell between H and I, only slight difference if looking from angle under direct sunlight. The setting I chose would also hide I colour very well.

4) In the event that my partner notices the off white colour (if any) and is bothered by it - I can always get it upgraded - this wouldn''t be an issue

Thanks again for everyone''s help on this!
