Hey guys and gals,

I created an account years ago and am ready to purchase a diamond immediately. We are somewhat flexible in the ranges:

Size: 1.8 - 2.2ct
Color: G thru J
Clarity: VVS2 - SI1
Cut: most likely super ideal, from research it seems like we want the best cut but maybe some experts can find rare exceptions that are graded ideal but would be close to super ideal.

We are looking at anywhere from $12k-$16k,obviously getting the most bang for the buck is ideal. She would rather have a 2ct J over a 1.8ct G. I know clarity can also vary. Having a SI1 with inclusions that are mostly hidden or a SI1 that could be considered a VS2 to someone else would be acceptable.

I like having access to all of the info that most of the top places offer for better comparison. We have searched on BG, WF, HPD, JA. It is hard to narrow some of this down and we would appreciate any advice.

We just purchased a Tacori Petite Crescent HT 254725rd for this. Photos attached!

Thanks! 20180521_170924.png20180521_170943.png

What exact size in mm does the setting you bought allow? Most settings will need a stone within a narrow size range.

The range should be 7.8mm - 8.2mm

Thank you

Hello @schetima. Sound like a beautiful project. It seems you’re purchasing the diamond from a separate source than your setting. That isn’t unusual, but just a heads-up to investigate where best to have the loose diamond set. I imagine the diamond sellers you’re considering will cover (insure) the diamond while mounting it into a provider setting. Some will not, however. And the source providing the setting will usually not insure diamonds brought in from elsewhere. Just a question to have on the list. I Hope this is helpful.

Thank you for reply Melissa. Yes, we have looked into this and will most likely have it set from the diamond vendor as that seems like the best option.

This diamond would be my pick:

They have other ones as well in the size and price range that you are looking.

Here’s one by Crafted by Infinity:

Here’s one a bit outside your specs, but it gets you over the 2 carat mark:

Thanks for the suggestions. We had already checked out the WF and CBI diamonds. The WF has a cloud right near the center that we didn't like. Not sure how noticeable IRL, so we hoped to find better options. The CBI report show some big clouds but no video to really tell much. As far as Brian Gavin goes, there's not really many options in our ranges at the moment.

From my understanding, CBI has a few more diamonds coming into stock. You should speak with Wink from HPDiamonds and he should be able to tell you if a stone that you want is within the pipeline.
