I originally told my boyfriend that I wanted a simple ering with 3 pointer stones on the band. I know he is working with a jeweler now to design my ring, but I am worried the 3 pointers are going to be too big and bulky. I think the 3 pointers will take away from the center stone. I really want something thin and delicate. I feel like I should have told him 2 pointers instead.

My ring size is a 5, and I think he will be getting a 1.5ct to 2ct center stone.

Does anyone have images they can post of 3 pointer and 2 pointer engagement rings? I would love to see the difference!

These are 4 pointers with a 1.08 carat center. If you want delicate then 2 pointers are the way to go. Either way the melee is unlikely to overwhelm a 2 carat center stone. You'll be fine.

The more focus you want on your solitaire, the smaller the melee stones should be. It completely depends on how sensitive your eyes are to side stones. If in the end you want all the focus on your center stone, you might be better off with a solitaire with no stones. If you are sure you want something, even if a little, then go as small as possible. I think the stones on my ring are about 2 pointers. However, I am very aware that it does take some attention, even if very little from the center stone, which is 2.59 carats. It really depends on how aware your eyes are and how much you want to the focus on your center stone. The band is just a hair under 2mm.

LLJsmom, all I notice is that stunning center diamond

I also vote for the 2 pointers if you want a more delicate look, good luck in your decision.
