Help. 18K or 14K for hoop earrings

I went to a local jeweler this weekend and I fell in love with this one pair of hoops they had. I just found out they were 14K and not 18K.

From my previous post, I have two loose pear shape stones that I want to turn into charms for the hoops.

Now I am running into two problems.

1. Should I stick with the hoops being in 14K vs 18K
2. I org. wanted inside outside hoops but the one at the store only had the diamonds on the outside. The guy advised against getting the inside outside. Something to do with drilling the holes and how it would compromise the structure for the hoops.
